I've been looking at lcd and plasma tv's. Many of the 42" and less plasma cannot display full 720p. They however list that they are 720p. There resolution is usually 1024x768. The LCD's in this size range are almost entirely 1366x768. 720p is actually 1280x720 I believe. So will I notice a big difference between the 1024 plasma vs. the 1366 lcd? Also, if I play something that is 720p on a lcd that displays higher than 720p will it do nothing, or will it upscale it?

ALL signal types are DE-constructed, then RE-constructed to FIT the display.....no matter what brand or Native Resolution of the display.....

So.... you 'll get the picture, the Whole picture, and nothing more or less than the picture....

More resolution means more detail to the picture....

So, All picture types will show on your screen. The Second number is your Vertical Resolution (768 is MORE than 720 is)

And the Horiz resolution is the other number....1366 would be better than 1024.

So, you'll have better resolution than the standard 1280 x 720 used in 720P.

And slightly less than the 1080P standard which is
1920 x 1080

And your 720P signal will be broken down and UpScaled to fit the native resolution of your display.

It depends if you have a built in hd tuner. A built in tuner can upscale a dvd. The size of screen will make a difference on the clarity of the picture.
Also, depends on the source. Even if you have a 720p, if the station you're watching is 480i, then you'll watch the 480i.

in my opinion, i would not purchase a plasma, regardless what they combat to cajole you. Plasma has a short existence span, as quickly as that's long previous you're out of success. Time to purchase returned. liquid crystal exhibit could be better. in case you have a PS3 or bluray, then forget approximately those and get a 1080p. With which you will get the suitable image. additionally, be sure you get a television with a outfitted in HD tuner. in case you have a customary dvd participant w/ ingredient connectors, then the tuner will upconvert your customary dvd to a 1080i in case you have a 1080p television. this ability which you will not ought to purchase a dvd participant that with outfitted in upconversion. additionally, with a outfitted in hd tuner you are able to connect a hd antennae to pickup close by hd channels loose, somewhat of paying by means of a cable or satelite service. The 60 inch sony rear projection 1080p hdtv is nicely worth paying for. They final longer than a plasma or liquid crystal exhibit and the greater moderen ones have remarkable photos. You get a greater exhibit screen for the money. Works surprising with nintendo wii and observing stay carrying activities and stay shows. i replaced into going to purchase a plasma until the greater I found out approximately them the greater i found out on no account innovations. With a PS3 and bluray, that's particularly suitable to get 1080p. definite, 1080i is better than 720p. definite, you are able to word the version

42" Plasma HDTVS can display 720 lines (actually 768), so yes, they can claim that they are 720p (or 1080i).
No, you will not see any big difference.

TVs scale ALL inputs to their native resolution, so yes, an LCD TV will scale a 720p signal to fit its native resolution (736 or 1080 pixels)
