Asked whether human life is a result of God's creation or evolution over millions of years, a majority of Americans said both are probable explanations.

Overall, more Americans expressed a strong belief in creationism, or the theory that God created humans in their present form at a single period in time within the last 10 000 years.

Even the pope can reconcile evolution with his belief in a personal god. People who reject evolution are wantonly ignorant and that's more dangerous than a wrong belief.

"you can't say the majority does one thing, but that most people do another. that makes no sense."

The OP did not bother to note that the "both" responses to the poll in question were completely illogical. The choices were:

1. creationism, or the theory that God created humans in their present form at a single period in time within the last 10,000 years

and

2. evolution, the scientific theory that humans developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life

These are mutually exclusive. There was no flavor of the option of "God did it with evolution".

It just goes to show:

1. How little thought pollsters give to the questions they pose.
2. How little thought poll respondents give to their answers.
3. How deceitful evolution vs creation posters are on YA.

The two are not mutually exclusive.
We can believe in a Creator God, who initiated all life.
And we can believe in a process of evolution as the method.
Evolution is only a scientific theory to explain the process.
Species are dieing off, & new ones are being discovered.
Scientists cannot ever disprove the existence of God.
Scientists will never discover anything which God did not create.
The Bible is not about 'how' but 'why'.

I am an American. I will not ignore actual proof because I am too simple minded to accept that some 2000 year old book is not fact.

Evolution is fact. In my mind it is also a fact that evolution in no way proves there is no God.

If you look at the beginning of Mathew you will see how God has manoeuvred curtain individuals with exceptional quality's down though history in order to produce a suitable father for he's son.
It is this same method of orchestrating the development of life that we are here to day.

We came from God, because the Bible Says so. Nuff said about that.

About Evoluion, the scientists of the world began by saying, We Came From Ape. Since the discovery that there are no common DNA to Humans and Neanderthal "Man." they've begun saying, "Everyone knows we came from FISH!"

Science proves God, and Confuses the issue to those who don't have FAITH in the things they can't see.

We began no KNOWING there were GERMS in the air, and on our hands. Then, 150 years ago or so, they could see the first germs under a microscope.

With the right tools you can see germs. With the Holy Bible, and prayer, you can see Jesus in your Daily Life, also. It's just a beginning bike ride. Take a step of fiath, and pray to God in Jesus Christs' name. He always loved you, and always will.

You've created a false dilemma. One does not have to choose between God or evolution today, anymore than one had to choose between God and a heliocentric system back in the 1500s. Accepting the overwhelming evidence in support of evolution does not mean one cannot believe in God or be Christian.

If your statistics are true, then we are living in sad times full of willfully ignorant people who refuse to accept simple scientific facts.

How about God and Evolution? I see no conflict.

Consider that God created man without death and decay. Evolution was never a part of His creating man. It was only after Adam fell that death and decay entered the world. Doesn't the religion of evolution need death to support it's theory?

Adam was already a man when he fell and death entered the world. (Wink)

I'm American and I believe in evolution. But I believe in god too. I believe that evolution caused everything.
