There are benefits to neutering before the dog reaches 6 months and begins adolescence. You will avoid many undesireable behaviors, such as marking, humping and dominance aggression. Thank you for being a responsible owner.

The sooner the better. My best dog friend of 57 years of loving them all was neutered at the youngest age. At that time, vets liked to wait for 6 months, but my vet did the procedure at 4 months. He always squatted to pee, which was funny since he looked so manly, but he did not give a dang about humping legs or chasing females in heat.

6 months is a very good time. Both cats and dogs can be altered at a younger age if they start bad habits, like marking territory. If you wait until marking is a habit, even 1 month, the animal may never stop marking.

Thank you for neutering. I get all my pets from rescue or Anti-Cruelty. Though my pit bull rescued a stray kitten.

The best time to neuter any dog/cat would be if they are at least anywhere between 6 months to 1 year...this is the best time for the dogs to be neutered...because they are still growing and it won't be as painful.

Good luck!

They are suggesting that they can be neutered as early as 4 to 6 months of age. I suggest getting it done before you see him hiking his leg. This is usually around 6 to 8 months.
They maintain that sweet puppy personality a lot longer, and are less likely to run off looking for a female in heat.

Right now would be a good time to get him neutered. Most vets prefer this age.

at 5-6 months I find to be best.
younger tehy don't get to mature enough at 6 months they can stat breeding so now is the best before he gets a taste of it.
Some harmones are controlled by the brain so if he gets an idea now you may have problems.

ASAP!! Neutering can be done at 8 weeks, and the younger it's done, the better off your dog will be.
