Every time people bash Mormons half the things they're saying aren't true.

Ok, to answer a few things, we DO NOT practice polygamy. If a Mormon does, they are excommunicated. Second, I hope that kkkjewhater577 is kidding, because we don't. If you were serious, you were probably seeing a cult, not Mormons.

To answer the guy who said tell us what we believe, I will post the articles of faith, found in the back of the Docterine & Covenants.

1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

I have still haven't read that Mormons grow horns on their head...but I'm waiting for that from these bigoted, prejudiced ignoramuses.

We hear Mountain Meadows Massacre a lot here.

But we don't hear anything of the Hauns Mill Massacre, the killings and burning of homes by bigots in Jackson County Missouri, the extermination order of Mormons in Missouri, the murder of Joseph and Hyrum Smith by a bigoted satanic protestant mob. Then the driving out of Illinois as well by burning homes and burning The Nauvoo Temple.

That's tens of thousands of people. not just one hundred.

You will never hear that from them because they aren't taught that by their bigoted preachers. They don't know Mormon History at all.

Do you really know what truth in your own religion is?

If you never stick your nose out of Deseret Book, F.A.R.M.s F.A.I.R Jeff Lindsey, Mormon.org, seminary, Sunday school, missionaries and the Utah Mormon culture in general, then you will only understand the glorified orthodox view of your religion and never the reality.

But it is pointless to try to convince you otherwise, you have a mindset that will never allow you to view non approved church materials open mindedly, only with bias.

But keep on bashing people the Mormons love it.

They love it when people mindlessly call them a cult or polygamists because it gives them the opportunity to say “no were not” with a relatively easy position to argue without having to understand deep doctrines, history or science, and then walk away feeling like Gods missionaries (Gods poor persecuted misunderstood missionaries)

When ever they ask questions like this there just playing the victim card, the nobody understands me card, the life is such a burden being a misunderstood Mormon card.

When I got away from SLC, UT and my Mormon community, i realized that I wa snever allowed to think for myself, that the mormons were sexist, that I was being brainwashed, that their were other theologies out there that were not so out there, if you know what i mean, evolvong into a God is very seductive and sounds pagan and darwinistic, most of the mormons I went to church with in my ward were paranoid, very controling, holier then thou, thought they were already demi-gods, filled with persecution mania, I could tell they were putting on a happy face in public and being their tru selves behind closed doors, they all seemed mental and paranoid. I was suicidal all the time and I couldn't run away from this sucidal tendancy ( I even listened to sucidal tendancies...LOL and couldn't shake the need to end my life) I got ssaved and finally saw some light at the end of the tunnel. Being wiccan or an atheist could not do this for me.

You need to study more than the pamphlets your given. You need to know why the mormons had to leave Ohio - they weren't driven out as much as they defaulted on their loans incurred by Smith.
The Missourians were concerned that the mormons might actually follow through with their "new Jerusalem" plan by evicting the Missourians off the lands.
The final act of JS was to destroy a private printing press - but not after it had linked Smith to polygamy and polyandry.
Brigham took things a steep further in apparently authorizing Isaac Morley to do 'whatever necessary', which apparently meant murdering the Indians execution style.
Mountain Meadows - need we say more?
DNA and Indians - Only BYU disputes overwhelming evidence of Asian Ancestry
Jaredite Barges - Unseaworthy pieces of junk designed by God?
Kinderhook, Bones of Zelph, funerary papyri - all demonstrate that smith was nothing more than an imaginative, but second rate christian 'scholar', who conned a lot of people to both die and kill for him.

So, what 'untrue' parts are you referring to?

I dont like it when people say horrible things about any religion.
Yet in your statement this is an admission that half of what they say against Mormonism is true-why not go with absolute truth-salvation in Jesus-not in Mr Smith, not in a church, not in a warm feeling, but directly in Jesus=this is what helped me=one I was going to commit suicide having everthing I wanted as a Jew with money.

and the reason is because I finally believed the prophecies and prayed- "Jesus I am sorry for my sins, come into my heart and help me, be my friend, amen."
He said he would in Revelation 3:19&20 "I love you, and ask you to repent from your sins quickly and turn to me, Behold I stand at your heart door and knock, if you open the door asking me in, I will come in and be your friend."

this is why I came to believe Jesus=As a Jew I was taught Jesus was a liar, yet as I read the Jewish prophecies of the Messiah I had to chose if I would continue to believe a lie or to believe the truth.

A proof of the Bible being the Word of God and not tampered with is the fact that these prophecies are in the Jewish scriptures -while the Jewish people apart from Messianic Judaism say if you believe them your not Jewish any more!

"Unto us A CHILD IS BORN, A Son is given, and he will be almighty God, the prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6

"He will be exalted. Yet he will be marred more than any man.
All we like sheep have gone astray and the sins of us all will be put upon him. He will be despised and rejected. He will lay down his life to make atonement for our sins. He will die with the wicked and be burried with the rich. He will see his seed and prosper." Isaiah 52:13-53:12

ARE YOU THE SEED OF JESUS?= JOHN 3 Jesus said repent of sin and be born again.

will you as your suppose to as a good Mormon believe the prophecies and salvation? I did

My only problem with Mormons is that they believe in the disrespectful baptism of the dead (which they admitted was disrespectful of holocaust survivors and stopped....here's a clue, if it's disrespectful of one set of non-Mormons, it's disrespectful of others!) and that they abandoned polygamy so Utah could become a state....

Can you imagine that? Like, you believe in something so much that you move 1500 miles by wagon train, and maybe your dad died for that belief, and certainly members of your family were killed for it, and then a church leader decides it's too unpopular a belief, and says "okay, now we don't believe that!" That's creepy. What's next, will the benefit of liquor taxes in Salt Lake City become so appealing that not drinking becomes too unpopular to continue?

Mr.G- Most of those massacres of Mormons were direct reactions to polygamy. From the CLDS' current stance, it seems they agree with the murderers, not the murdered Mormons.
Edit: HEY CLUELESS JOE QUESTIONER! I didn't say Mormons DID CURRENTLY practice polygamy, but all those Mormons murdered in the past were murdered because they DID. By making polygamy an excommunicable offense, the CLDS has cut its own knees out from under itselves, saying that those people killed for being Mormon were less Mormon that YOU. THEY DIED so that you could have your religion and your church SLANDERS their memory.
YOU NEED to read your own sacred texts and your own history.

The things I know about the Mormon church are things I've read in official Mormon documents or heard from former Mormons.

I recently heard a Mormon debate a Bible believing Christian on the radio, the interview was done by Alan Colmes of Hannity and Colmes, Fox News:

The Mormon guy lied about his own religion over and over.

The Bible believing Christian told the truth.

I've read all the books written by Joseph Smith and what that Mormon guy was saying on the radio contradicted things which Mormons were saying right here on Yahoo Answers.

And he contradicted things which Joseph Smith wrote down, which you can access on www.lds.org or www.mormon.org

Everything written on the links below I can assure you is true.

Perhaps you've been lied to by your church and you don't want to admit it?

Mormon museums that tell history...learn your history. Edit: The extermination order replaced into for polygamy. study it your self. Now MORMONS are people who desire to exterminate Polygamists....those Polygamist Mormons weren't the same human beings as on the instant's CLDS. they had be disgusted by technique of you.

I was a Mormon! I Learned they do not accept Jesus As God, They deny the Deity of God! There is no "half-truths" about that. I'm Sorry. So I Left, and found my Joy In Serving God the Father, God the SON, And GOD the HOLY SPIRIT! "Thank you Jesus" "If You deny Me as God, YOU DO NOT KNOW ME, JESUS SAID> I And My Father Are One"! Case Closed.

i think that a lot of the people don't accept polygamy from back then even tho now they think it is okay to have sex with someone and then leave them when they have a baby. People accept that they can have multiply babies with multiply people but they don't accept the polygamy thing. I think that people make most of the stuff up. I accept Mormonism. I like the religion!! :)
