I have liabilty insurance, since full coverage at my age is ridculous, and I was in an accident last night. There was no yeild or stop sign and the lady just stopped as i was looking for cars coming i rear ended her. The police came and he said when i call my insurance company, to say that I was at fault but i wasn't given a citation. Two people I know said that since I wasn't given a citation that my insurance might still cover me. Is this true? I'm in the state of GA too btw.

When you rearend someone, you are 100% at fault. When you are 100% at fault, you have to have collision coverage to get paid for YOUR vehicle. Your policy will pay the OTHER party for their damages up to your policy limit for property damage liability (if you have minimum liability limits & you hit a new car, you may not have enough coverage). Fault is not determined by just getting a citation. I would say, most accidents don't result in a ticket for anyone - but that depends on your state.

Running into the rear of someone is an automatic determination of guilt, regardless of citation. If you want to take the other guys advise and state that someone backed into you, have fun. I am sure that the accident will drop off your record before you get out of jail for insurance fraud. Before you do that though, let me know so I can get the reward since they will figure it out anyway

Your insurance company will cover the damages to the OTHER car -- NOT yours.
Don't listen to people that know nothing about this kind of crap.

Obviously your car wont get fixed (you realize this .. right?... thats why you only pay for liability...) but yes.. you are at fault here.. so they will cover the other vehicles damages.

since you only have liability it will cover the car you hit but will not cover your own car. when ever you rear end someone it is automatically your fault unless you can prove they backed into you.

i had the bare minimun insurance here in Indiana and my insurance covered my accident, where I rear ended someone in the same way.

I would just say someone backed into you and and go get quotes at body shops before going to the insurance. I wouldn't tell them that you ran into someone and claim it because it will stay on your record for 5 years, trust me, I got into 2 car wrecks, neither my fault and my insurance is irate.
