Hello :),

Since Prince, yours is the first name I've noticed that's a symbol.

I think any societal construct (laws, religion, whatever) that gives preeminence to one group of people over another based on physical characteristics or belief system is bigoted. For example, it's very convenient to say that all uneducated people cannot attain certain positions in society and then bar a group from being educated to fill it... such as women, minorities, or whatever. It maintains the power base quite nicely, doesn't it?

Most religions (save the earth-based ones) are usually patriarchal and therefore these male-created constructs could only conceive of men as the supreme power on earth. The Ultimate Divine is a spirit... but how many religions refer to this Divinity as male? Yup, you got it. Even when the Divinity is considered a three-part being i.e. "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost"... most consider even the Ghost as being male.

Somebody apparently had to take the blame for us being human and for life being hard work. Poor gullible Eve fit the bill nicely. Not only did the poor 'silly little thing' exhibit her first independent characteristic of curiosity about life, she got blamed for opening the door to knowledge because Daddy told her not to - even though Daddy practically had neon signs and animated arrows pointing to it.

She had the further gall to offer to share her transcendent understanding with her mate. As a reward for this horrible understanding, she got to carry the burden of Original Sin and experience the pain and suffering of childbirth. What's more, every one of her daughters had to take on her sin as a scapegoat ever after. Whereas the guy got to say "she tempted me" and got off essentially scot-free. Maybe he had to learn how to farm, but hey... compared to what Eve got, he got off easy.

Yeah, that might seem fair for a teenager disobeying Daddy, huh? A life of perpetual second class citizenship for every woman in most Christian religions of the world. Other religions liked the idea and chose to keep females subservient. Made it much simpler if nobody was allowed to question what the guys wanted to do.

Don't get me wrong, I DO believe in the Divine with all my soul and I do love and honor men. Being married to one of those delightful guys for 38 years brings happiness to us both. I just don't believe in this myth. What's more, I felt this story was all wrong.. since I was about 9 years old.

Just my two cents worth; your mileage may vary.

Why is it that Christ is taken out of Christianity. The Christ part is the purpose of the word. I don't think His name was "X". Christianity isn't sexist. All presidents have been men. It is fact. No one made this stuff up. Christ was a man because God is male (Heavenly Father). Eve messed it up just because she did. God didn't make her mess up just because she's female. They too had free will.

of course.

women are property, fathers can whore out their daughters, etc. etc. and on top of all that, the bible says women shouldn't be pastors/preachers/whatever you want to call it.
