Prejudice, I'm certain, fits in there somewhere. They're telling you not to support the atheist, Muslim, Jewish communities, etc, etc....no matter how the christian community attempts to sugar coat it....

Well, you could say that about a lot of groups if that were the case. I can't see where that would be any different than a masonic lodge having a directory for their own use of businesses of other masons.

Those books are not publicly published and kept within their churches or other groups and they have the right to put them together like that. They are private use items and until someone starts putting them on peoples doorsteps to promote only those businesses I would say there is nothing wrong with it.

I dont know what the technical definition of bigotry is, but I hope they are promoting discrimination.
Isnt discrimination the thing that promts you to put the grape in your mouth and not a cockroach? (sorry if that offended those of you who love to eat cockroaches)

Discrimination is a good thing. Why would a Christian church promote a non-christian business?

Its not a matter of bigotry, its a matter of preference.
What about women organizations that list only women links on their websites?
As a woman, you are practicing bigotry every time you see a woman doctor!
Your argument has many flaws.
Now if a church took a stance and said, you can only see christian doctors or members of society, well then that would be bigotry.
God Bless

No. If you belong to a lodge or civic club, you'll often see calendars with ads from fellow members who own businesses. If you're part of any organization, you'll know which people have businesses, and have the option of patronizing them or not. What's the difference between that and ads in church bulletins or publications? After all, they're not saying that their members shouldn't also shop with secular businesses, as well. It's not like there's some kind of "shop here or die" command. And in my church directory, not all of the people advertising there are church members, anyway. The biggest advertiser I can think of, in fact, is not associated with the church at all.

No, I wouldn't say so. They are churches. It's only natural that they would want to help their parishioners succeed in business (especially if the church passes round the plate at service !!). Jokes aside though, every niche or clique in society tends to promote their own "kind", so to speak.

I'm not a religious person at all, but I don't see any harm in churches doing that, or any other group for that matter. Stop looking for problems where there aren't any, and try fixing something that's really broken. God knows there's enough broken stuff out there.

Cheers !!

No. Why would that be bigoted to have directories of Christian owned businesses? Some people prefer going to places where they know the people share the same ideals as them. There's nothing bad about it.

Not at all, no more so than any other group that creates a directory of member businesses.

Is every website that creates a link page bigoted toward all the sites they don’t list? If I create a friends and family links page am I bigoted toward all the people I don’t know?

I am with nuPhyllis on this one. The worst screw job I ever received was by an attorney who played the religious channel on the television in his office. I am Christian, but I try not to mix religious views with business. There are scumbags in every walk of life, and some try to profit by using this as a way of doing business.

Do Black business and New Age directories in your PC world do the same?

I don't think so, if you are against say... abortion... not saying that you are.. but hypothetically... would you want to give your money to a company that funds planned parenthood. Also, I live in Jacksonville Florida and we have a Government funded directory called "The Black Pages" which has only black people and black owned businesses and it doesn't bother me, does it bother you?
