Sure, you can tell him to kiss your behind and explore other philosophies! He aint the only game in town!
Seriously, why would anyone want to spend eternity with a bully who tells beings much weaker and more fallable than he that they'd better worship and adore him or spend until the end of time being tormented in a fiery pit? How much better than hell can heaven really be if an a**h*le like that is in charge? Hell is probably actually a nicer place and god is just lying about how awful it is. Any being who would allow children to be born only to suffer and die rather than allow their parents to use contraception is just evil enough to lure the rest of us into spending eternity in some awful pit with him rather than tell us the truth about anything.
So, my choices are: 1) Spend eternity in the company of a tyrant who seems to enjoy tormenting beings smaller and weaker than he -or- 2)Spend eternity being slow-roasted
Wow, those both seem to suck! Christianity: No wonder Hypocrites Love It Sooooo Much!!

Yup, that isn't what my GOD says to me, but if that is what your GOD says to you, you still have the choice. I might suggest that you stop reading from the homogenized word of GOD and make your own deal with your spiritual mentor. Constantine and the Council of Nicene put together some pablum to pacify the crowds in Rome and concoct a religion that everyone could more or less agree on. Constantine was a pagan until his deathbed confession, given as some have reported, by his mother while he was in a coma. The Council of Nicene was presented a deal by which they could become the only recognized religion in Rome and wipe out the troublesome Pagans and Gnostics at the same time. Everybody was doing their best for their own cause, which is why it got so fouled up. In the process Mary of Magdela got demoted from beloved disciple of Jesus to common Prostitute, the church got demoted from a sharing loving community to the thugs that came up with the Grand Inquisition, and we ended up with the most abused collection of letters and fairy-tales ever to be called translated scripture. Perhaps that is why you interpret GOD as being all condemning instead of all loving. If you look in your own spirit, you may find that the GOD placed within is not nearly so condemning!

Even if there is no ice cream but Vanilla, you still have the choice to take it or leave it. On the other hand the Lord promised eternal life to those who believe. If you don't receive that gift burning forever is not really an option; despite what the Christian trolls may say.

Razz, this gets asked quite frequently. The simple answer is yes. The presence or lack of immediate consequence in no way dilutes the fact that you are free to make your own decisions. You aren't anyones puppet, are you?

Nope, and that is another thing the the Christians got wrong. If you impose your faith and beliefs and will onto others then they no longer have free will and that is the basis of faith as it is stated in the Old Testament. That was part of the other 5 commandments that Moses broke when the he dropped the tablet: Thou shalt not mess with free will".

Very intelligent Q- really
Now to understand this we first much understand what we are. If we accept we are not the material machine but the conscious energy which animates it - hence forth known as the soul. Now since you brought up a Supreme being- what is the relationship between the soul and the Supersoul? The relationship between the soul and the Supersoul is one of pure loving service. The soul is part and parcel of the Supersoul with the same attributes- like a drop of the ocean got the same qualities not the same quantity. One of the major qualities is independence- Since He has complete independence He can do anything. We also have this quality but it is not so great due to our infinitesmal nature.
But if we desire to enjoy (His position) separately (another propensity we share with the Supreme) then the Supreme Father cant force a loving relationship- that would not be spontaneous and pure. God is the only transcendental enjoyer in the Eternal world. Therefore He manifests this material creation for us to play in. In it we try to enjoy in different bodies acting or playing different parts- in our mind's eye we are the star of the show- ''We are God''. This is the real God delusion. Whether male or female body we want to be the greatest (Ali), Wealthiest,Wisest, Most Beautiful, Most Renounced, Most Famous and Most Powerful- These are God's qualities but we aspire for them. What we find is generally distress in this world because we cant have these qualities. The real reason why God is not found is because if the person with all divine oplulences were around- we could not enjoy or aspire to be as great as Him/Her. So since there are many of us in this insignificant planet- we serve as devotees to each other. We always view each other in terms of what can be gotten from the other party. Certain cosmic laws are therefore necessary to govern this chaos. Hence the inescapable Law of Karma or cause and effect, of which, a derivative is Newton's 3rd law, which is where I can really begin to answer your q (With the above mentioned info it makes more sense).
As you sow so shall you reap -Biblical. But if one understands that there is more than just one life to live it makes more sense. Otherwise its unjust and would seem downright cruel. You mentioned the plethora of horrible incidents of this world. Like if one had to walk in on an execution of a man- we might think that it would be evil to kill that man but if we found out that he was the leader of genocide it might make more sense. Similarly, children have existed before and like you and I have had innumerable lives. This is why one child is born into a home with a silver spoon and another into a deplorable condition (according to previous activies based on desire and subsequent cosciousness). You may think this is cruel too but in the grand cosmic scale one lifetime is insignificant. God has given us a chance do whatever we want from becoming gods to war heros, beauty queens, Heads of states, hobbos, lions, redwood trees, jellyfish etc. The same indivisible spiritual particle inhabiting different material machines. Eternal torment for finite bad is illogical or unfair, and Kingdom of God for some good deeds is also equally illogical- both lead to unsound math. We have so much freedom- but still even in the best conditions happiness eludes us. How is it that some streetsweepers are happier than some billionaires. In this world happiness is relative. Our real desire is exponential absolute happiness without limits which is available in the Infinite one. Since this is our natural activity- and we are eternal without beginning or end- it makes sense when we understand our real eternal identity then we experience real substantial happiness. It is not possible to experience infinite happiness using the body since it is not our real nature. And it has limits, time and space- we cannot eat as much as we want, we cannot have unending enjoyment. Sex is the highest gross material pleasure but it is so temporary for both men and women. What I am talking about goes lightyears further and is far more substantial. The greatest happiness in this world is love but this too is met with suffering since separation is painful for both partners and happens at death or divorce. God is merciful because He sends His sons, servants and other confidential devotees to give us this divine knowledge. One can only take a horse to water but we cant force it to drink.
In conclusion, neverending satisfaction can occur in self realization- when one understands their actual direct relationship with the Infinite we attain infinite happiness.
