Morbid and sanctimonious paint? Sounds like dulux have a new range of summer colours out. Presumably shades of grey? I must investigate.

In my (well lets face it, not very) humble opinion Christians can be divided into two broad categories.
Firstly there are the people like yourself. Reasonable people with a personal faith.
Secondly there are those that seem to be in a mental orbit round Saturn. Rabid, dogmatic and evangelical.

Which of these two groups makes the most noise?

Just for the record morbid is fine, and vanity is to be actively encouraged. It is all part of the Great Plan.

True Christians are certainly not like everyone else in words and deeds but that does not necessarily make them pretentious of hating of others...on the contrary.. In John 15 v 12 Jesus said "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you" and that is how all Christians should behave. We are called upon to love everyone without fail and to abhor their sins at the same time which I admit can be a hard thing to do. I am a Christian and I believe I show love to all...I try not to judge people which is also hard but there is only one true judge who we will all have to face in the future.
What most non-Christians actually have a problem with is that they are actively sinning and do not like the thought of other people...namely Christians....not liking what they are doing. Many people are so entrenched in their own sin and wrongdoing that they are reluctant to change anything for the better. God has never asked me to do anything that I am incapable of doing or asked me not do do something I am doing unless it is hurtful to others.
The truth is, many people on here who knock Christianity have no clues as to what it is actually all about and won't bother to take the time to find out.
I wish you all the wisdom to find out the truth and the only way you can do that is to know what Christianity really is and begin a great voyage of discovering not only yourself but millions of Gods family too.
Best wishes, Mike.

It is a fundamental problem in logic.
Logic is the art of assigning characteristics to individuals based on the characteristics of categories. Folks who have never studied logic or critical thinking have trouble understanding the relationship between small groups and larger categories. It is illogical, for example, to assume that all New Yorkers are serial killers simply because some serial killers have lived there.

Over 75% of the world's Christians are Catholic (55% are Roman Catholic). 55% of Christians endorse evolution as official Church dogma. Only 5% of Christians believe in the Rapture. Evangelicals/Fundamentalists make up less than 10% of the Christian population (but 40% of American Christians).

The theory of Intelligent Design is advocated by a few dozen individuals who run a Christian think tank on the east coast, and they are actually opposed to teaching ID in public schools. So why is ID presented as a Christian doctrine in the first place?

The problem is that you seem to be in the minority of the Christian population. :-P I've had my hostility against Christians, but as I've grown up, I've realized that I can't attribute the things I have issue with to ALL Christians.

I do have to say that there are some things about Christianity as a belief system that bother me. Some of them are political beliefs that most Christians hold, specifically concerning women and non-heterosexuals. But others are things that just kind of bother me when I think about them. . . like, you are seriously wandering around believing that I (and countless other people) am literally going to burn forever? This is something you can accept and embrace? But whatever; I've come to terms with this as much as I can. It's mostly not my problem. ^_~

Peace out.

Morbid maybe, sanctimonious certainly, hypocritical absolutely. I read posts on here every day by Christians stating now how I should live but how I should be forced to live. I'm so tired of hypocritical Christians injecting themselves and their silly superstitions into every facet of my life. Get out my life, out of my government and I'll go back to leaving you a lone. Until then, it's war.

I'm also feed up with being called evil by people who claim to be persecuted for not be able to force their belief system on me.
