My girlfriend was an agnostic for a long time, and didn't like organized religion. She only comes to my church if I'm doing something special musically (I work with the church music, and occasionally do special numbers). She'll come just long enough to hear the music, and immediately afterward walk out the door and leave. But then, she got interested in a religious movement called Eckankar [http://www.eckankar.org] and sometimes attends their meetings. She told me from the beginning that she'd never join my church, and if I didn't like it, tough. Anyway, I completely respect her right to pursue her spirituality as she wishes, and she has no problem with my being religious, as long as I don't ask her to convert. I've attended meetings with her in several different spiritual groups so I could learn more about what she's into and understand it better. I need to support her and show interest in what she believes spiritually, whether or not it matches my own religious preferences.

merely my opinion = first question - why do you think of that one has something in any respect to do with the different?? Atheism is approximately faith or lack thereof concept interior the supernatural would not ought to have faith in any faith what-so-ever that's a concept that there are various unexplained phenomenons interior the international that don't in wonderful condition the effective neat little packing containers of suggestions of the two faith or technological awareness. i could think of which you would be greater tolerant of the supernatural because you're atheist. the spirits of persons who've died dont pass to the heaven or hell of religion - so what occurs ?? loads of opportunities. loads of open suggestions. regrettably many that decision themselves atheist are merely approximately as closed minded as many religists. it particularly is the form of question this is merely approximately as illiberal as many churchers ask.

He was raised a Christian (his father is a Methodist Minister) but his beliefs are much closer to Buddhism than Christianity. Especially given that he agrees with me there is no god. His dad isn't too happy but accepts it.

i've vowed to try to dating Christian's and leaving the athiests to help. dating a non believer always puts a gap in the relationship that ends up bringing the Christian down on their beliefs. like a game you can play: a Christian stands on a chair, and a nonbeliever stands on the ground. no matter how hard the Christian tries to pull the athiest up on the chair with them, its always easier for the non believers to pull them down.

My wife and I have the same. They're a major part of why we even met. A husband and wife can't stay together for long, in harmony, unless this is the case.

My husband is inclined to believe what I believe. He is an agnostic type and I am the spiritual leader in the relationship. So spirituality with some Christian/new Age/Buddhist influences.

Pretty cool....I'm an agnostic kind of non aligned monothiest, who likes a lot about christianity, but thinks there is much more too it.
My girl was raised muslim, believes in god very strongly, but thinks all religions are good and correct.
So we only differ on, she thinks all religions are good, I think they are all bad, but it works

When we met, he claimed atheism and I was a Christian, so to speak. I became agnostic...and he has recently announced he is a Catholic again. So...ask this again in a few years, and who knows what my answer will be! :)
