Oh believe me, the O's have nothing to worry about. She will be able to live quite comfortably. They can live in base housing or they can live out in town and receive BAH.
It's good to see a mother who cares about her daughter and her soon to be son in law.

They will not be rich but should be able to live. He will be an O-1, under 2 years, I presume, and will make a base of $2500 per month. To this will be added a housing allowance, hazardous duty pay (for flying) and later combat pay. Additionally all the health care for you and your family is provided and you may benefit by shopping in the PX, not paying sales taxes and a few other small things. Your daughter should not starve or go without shoes but Gucci and Christian de Or are off the budget.
Edit:
I did not see your comments and thought that I had answered first. It is correct to be concernned. I am constantly ashamed about how little our enlisted men make and the officer recompense isn't much better. I suggest that you wear out your Congressman's carpet about this and about disabled veteran's compensation. Good luck with the fly boy... LOL I sure liked to see them coming by with a load in 'Nam.

Check out the link the guy provided a few spots above me.. that's the current pay, but there is a projected pay raise for 2008.
Keep in mind, the money an officer makes is pretty much just spending money, as there house, food, benefits etc are paid for, at least for the most part.

Don't worry. The Air Force will take care of them. The base pay may be a bit anemic, but when you look at housing allowance, Post exchange facilities, etc it adds up.
Also, promotions do come along, plus there are raises based on time of service.
So, if you just looked at the base pay, it's not so good. But,all thing considered, it adds up quickly and will only get better.
Best of luck to Mr andMrs Air Force!

butterbars make decent money. when he gets through flight training, he'll make more money for flight pay, and he'll get paid when he travels, and hostile fire in certain places. I believe base pay for 01's is something like 1800 a month, then they provide the housing and utilities to married officers on base. Little Rock is awesome, and c-130's are the freakin' best!

Plenty of money and most of it tax free. The AF more than takes care of their people especially officers. They don't call it the chair force for nothing. They get paid to buy food, they get paid for housing, they get paid for their uniforms, then the get their base pay on top of it. Have you every had a job that pays for your clothes, food, mortgage and then pay you on top of that as well. They are going to be fine as long as they have some clue how to manage money. Even officers can be idiots with money. We had one of our houses rented to a Major in the AF and they guy was as idiot. No clue how to manage money and even though he got paid nearly $3000K a month for a housing allowance he never had any money. YOu can never tell from looking at someone how well they are doing financially. If your kid and her guy are smart they shouldn't be moving back home to live with you anytime soon.

pilots and submariners make more than anyone in the military
We managed nicely
and the housing allowance is in addition to pay
so in a year or 2 they will likely be able to buy a house with a VA loan
they them not to buy near any busy streets!
thank them both for serving our country!
if they have a sword arch tell the photographer to be quiet and take pictures until it is finished!
Ours was messed up by a bossy one.

Have you ever thought about the families of the E-1's who have wife's and children. If they can make it I am certain your 2nd LT should be able to do so, because if he can't then he should resign his commission and let some one else who is obviously more qualified take his place!
