That makes one wonder why it wouldn't be called Lewis' wager.

I followed the link, but I did not see where the reference to Lewis was.

Anyway, I had been exposed to the argument before, but I did not know it was called Pascal's Wager until joining Y!A. See, who says we learn nothing from all this bickering?!

I do know that Lewis was well known for his Christian ethos writings; you know, things like why there is pain/suffering/loss in the world if God is good, etc.

In fact, there is a great movie with Anthony Hopkins staring as Lewis called Shadowlands. It is a poignant story (based on real life experiences) of Lewis coming to grips with his own heartache and loss, and how tough it was for him to reconcile his own beliefs.

He may have said something similar in the context of being asked why it matters what you believe or why shouldn't people just believe whatever makes them happy.

Whoever it is attributed to, its pretty feeble minded. Lead a false life in case there is a heaven - sorry, can't do it.

It doesn't matter. In any case, religion is a bad bargain for the believer.

It's such a simplistic idea that it seems many people have come up with it independently (but didn't understand its obvious flaws)
