I am not ashamed to say that I have been on Lexapro for nearly a year now. The difference in how it has made me feel, is indescribable. It has gotten my anxiety & depression under control & I finally feel peace & contentment within myself. They say it takes a good two weeks for a person to start feeling the effects of the Lexapro, but in my case, I felt the results within three days. I did not experience any side effects whatsoever. I began taking the pills at night, just in case there may be side effects & that way, I'd be able to sleep them off, but there were none. I continue to eat healthy, drink plenty of water, & exercise daily, & I believe that has helped also. Sure, I have a down day once in a while, that's normal, but it passes, & I'm feeling happy & cheerful again. My fiance & family has seen the biggest changes in me & have told me often. That has made me feel very encouraged. I know of a few people who are on the Lexapro & everyone is doing really well. I suffered depression & anxities for years & now, thanks to Lexapro, I don't have to. If you drink alcohol, be sure to check with your doctor before doing so, while on Lexapro. I don't drink but do know drinking while on the medication is a no no. All the best to you!!!! :)

For many people, lexapro is like magic; it really works brilliantly.
For others, it doesn't, but even if that's the case, there are MANY other antidepressants that will work. They all ease anxiety, you just have to be on the right one, and at the right dose; this is vital.
See how you feel after three or four weeks on the lexapro; if you don't feel any better, ask your doctor to prescribe a higher dose. Sometimes the dose needs to be adjusted a few times. If after about five/six weeks, and several changes of dose, you are still highly anxious, then you need a different medication.
I found that Prozac was very good for anxiety.

I have been on Lexapro for over a month. My side effects were very few... a little dry mouth at first, which has subsided. I don't have any anxiety issues, but I understand from what I read that Lexapro is very good for that. I am taking it for depression at 10mg per day. Some days I feel nearly back to my old self and other days I tank again. I don't understand this roller coaster. I should think I would show a gradual and daily improvement. But I'm going to stick with it for a few months until I'm certain that it is or is not working as I would like. Good luck to you... brain chemistry is a hard thing to understand, isn't it.

I'm bi-polar, and am pretty much just bothered by relentless anxiety. I was given Lexapro and after much research, had high hopes for it. It seemed to be working for everybody!
The first day I took it, my anxiety went gooood bye.
And then....for me, I became foggy and dumb. Could not get myself out of bed, and any chance of writing this would have taken forever since trying to think of the word "think" would have taken ten minutes alone. This is a minor side effect of Lexapro, so don't be alarmed if during the first few days you feel that way. Two weeks? Different story - bail out.
Medication works differently for everybody, of course, and sometimes Lexapro can take a few weeks to get you to be where you want to be. I've heard of, many, many people report that with the Lexapro, they were back to their old selves.
I wish the same for you. Anxiety's terrible.

Lexapro is the new wonder drug for anxiety. Very strong, very few side effects. Works fast. One or two weeks. Start at 10mg and that is it. No having to go up slow on the dose or waiting around for effect. The best of the SSRI's to try and the best Anti-depressant on the market.
But drugs are not the only answer. Therapy is also needed to get over anxiety.

Lexapro has been awesome for me. I still have to take additional medications with it for anxiety. Everyone's system is different, as well as their situation. However, I've not had one side effect with Lexapro, and I absolutely feel perfectly normal now. No more worrying, panic feelings, depression. It's been an unbelievable relief. I sure hope you get the same results, as anxiety is a horribly lonesome place to live! Best wishes and great health to you!

I have been on it for two years. I would not be without it. Give it a few weeks to really work and let your body adapt...it's worth it.
