Your asking the wrong question. You should be asking why He stood up to them. What was their sin? Jesus did not reject religious authority for its own sake. God Himself established the priesthood. Rather Jesus rejected sin. And he had a particular dislike of religious leaders who committed hypocrisy. These people were, after all, supposed to be examples, and in their failings they dragged the innocent down with them. But it was sin, not authority, that Christ stood against. Be careful in discerning what you stand against, and why.

I am. I believe what the Bible teaches, not man, and I live my life according to God's word, not man's. It's about a personal relationship with Him, not a religion, and I speak against those who think otherwise. There are so many false "religions" in the world today, and they go against God's teachings. Thank yo for bringing this up, though. It keeps us on our toes! God Bless

Many do....But your question is not out of line..you have presented a good point for all of we Christians to hear and act on.

....For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." 2 Timothy 3:16-4:4

I think a lot of Christian who may not care for various statements or beliefs their pastor preaches on might choose to switch to a different church, rather than confront their pastor. That has its drawbacks, as the pastor may never know why a particular family left the church; the pastor would never have a chance to correct or amend his beliefs.

Because probably about 99% of "so-called Christians" aren't even saved and don't have anything near what Jesus had.

Each individual can decide on their to do this or not, but we already have the free will to choose one religion over another, or choose no religion....so, we are already empowered to do this with free will. But, some will choose to try and change things from a doctrinal viewpoint and that is okay, too.

I am that brave. Jesus was a gnostic I believe. He was a liberal who freaked out the establishment so much they killed him for it. Obviously, he was NOT the son of God.

it's a wonderful hero story

so did Herkules and other pagan myth icons

we can be brave, I do

but life can be brutally lonely, today's pop culture mandates mass following and stupidity, not supposed to make sense or have logic, just supposed to be about control and hysteria

Maybe 60-120 years after I die, people will write a biography of me detailing all of the amazing things that I did, and inventing new stories, and embellishing events to suit their own political agenda.

I wonder if it will be a best seller?
