Well i got chose at the age of 19. It is extremley boring had 2 do it 4 nearly 3 weeks. You get paid your usual wage (if your employer completes form to say they are not paying you for the time or you dont get paid) plus travel (if you keep receipts) but only up 2 bout £50 per day if you earn more than that you only get £50 per day. If you are claiming job seekers allowance you have 2 switch to income support while you are on jury service then switch back when you are finished.

I don't know the exact odds but I do know whenever you apply for a new drivers license it increases your chances of being picked for jury duty. And no, you won't be paid much but if you are called for jury duty be sure to show up or there may be a bench warrant put out for your arrest.

It does not artwork, otherwise states interior the U. S. with the dying penalty could have a decrease homicide fee than they even have. there's no element in any punishment which does no longer deter. And the dying penalty does not deter in as great a manner as you are able to possibly think of. you in addition to could have the minor subject of miscarriages of justice. Take as an occasion the two women convicted of killing their own babies by potential of shaking them. They have been in common terms convicted because of the 'professional' evidence of a professor who has now been struck off the scientific sign in for incompetence and giving unsubstantiated evaluations as actuality on the rigors of those 2 women who've subsequently been released and totally pardoned. Their infants died of organic motives and his evidence compounded the impression of dropping a newborn by potential of including the conviction for homicide to it. If this usa had had the dying penalty, there is an stunning hazard that the two those women could have been accomplished. And a pardon is of truthfully no use to lifeless harmless guy or woman. the percentages of being stabbed interior the line are constrained. and that they are by potential of no potential the comparable odds for each city interior the united kingdom.

you get paid a minimal amount.
the odds of being chosen are slightly higher than getting struck by lightning.

I received a paper survey regarding jury duty ONCE in all the years (30+) since I have been an adult.

My mother has been called 3 or 4 times.

My father, once.

The rest of my immediate family (2 sisters, one brother), zero.

At a guess over a million to one. they always call more than 12 but in UK all over 18's go on the list so that must be about 40 million ish.
Been on the list over 30 years never called, but one of my sisters has done jury service.

You will be picked for jury duty at least once in your lifetime and there is a fair pay for it. Anyway, the prestige is in the service.

The odds are low, I've only been on once in roughly 30 years, most of my friends haven't been called up.

Don't do it for the money, it's not good. I did find it both enlightening and scary.
