Maybe...

Just last week I renewed my sons passport with expedited delivery, they told me that method is now taking four weeks. Of course it could show up early LOL.

Either way, it is a lot faster than standard which is now being quoted at 15 weeks.

Are you traveling within 3 weeks? Hopefully not because there is a decent chance you may not get it. With the next passport requirements and several US citizens still not being passport holders it is quite backed up! Now granted renewals don't take quite as long, so that is a plus. My co-worker send in her renewal the start of Mar. and received it the middle of April. So took about 1 1/2 months.

Even if you have travel insurance there is a chance that they won't cover the lost expensive due to no passport. If you do have insurance though definitely contact them to find out if so. If you are booked with a company find out what the penalties are because you might get within a certain time frame where the trip is completely non-refundable. You might be at that point already. If it is say within 7 days NR then you have to make the choice if you want to gamble getting it within that 7 days. Because if you do cancel and then get it 2 days before the original scheduled departure you won't be able to get that trip back without it most likely costing a lot.

So many variables that I'm unable to answer better than that. Sorry you are experiencing this stress. Good Luck!

Just yesterday, the US government issued a statement easing passport rules given the overload of applications to the system. Until September, if you have applied for a passport you can travel out of and into the US with your drivers license and a receipt showing that you have applied for a passport. Check out the State Department website. Its about time that they realized that the laws they put into effect could not be supported by the system already in place. I guess all the phone calls to senators finally caused some action.

I do not think 3 weeks is going to be enough time. I just got mine and even expedited it took almost 3 months to get to me. I think you need to check with them or get it in earlier if possible. The clerk told me they have a record number of requests and most of those are expedited and that is backing things up a lot. Good Luck
