Melissa, read up on the Triple Tiara here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Tiara_of_Thoroughbred_Racing

The Triple Tiara doesn't coincide with the Triple Crown. There are big races for fillies at the same parks and at the same times as the Triple Crown races, but they are not part of the Triple Tiara. The Kentucky Oaks is the big race for fillies at the same time as the Kentucky Derby for colts, but the Oaks is not part of the Triple Tiara like the Derby is part of the Triple Crown for colts. All of the Triple Tiara races are later in the year. They are: the Mother Goose Stakes, Coaching Club American Oaks, and the Alabama Stakes.

The Mother Goose Stakes will be held at Belmont park over a mile and an eighth on June 30.

The Coaching Club American Oaks is held at Belmont over a mile and a quarter on July 21.

The Alabama Stakes is held at Saratoga over a mile and a quarter and will be held on August 18.

The Triple Tiara is held later in the summer and is 3 races for 3 year old fillies. Rags to Riches did not win the Triple Tiara because none of those races have run yet.

Rags to Riches may not even run all of those races... she's probably very tired tonight after her amazing run today in the Belmont. She's an extremely talented filly... she wins everything she's entered in... so if she's entered in all the races, I'd say she has a pretty good shot at the Tiara. I hope she wins it... I like this filly a lot.

Rags to Riches has won four of her five starts. She lost a maiden race last year, had some time off and came back this winter at Santa Anita. She broke her maiden and won the two big G-1 races of the meet for fillies, the Las Virgines and the Santa Anita Oaks. Her next start was the Kentucky Oaks (the filly counterpart to the Derby) which she won.

There is no Triple Crown for fillies. Every spring/summer at Belmont, the New York Racing Association (NYRA) runs three prestigious races for fillies called the Acorn, Mother Goose and Coaching Club American Oaks which collectively were called the Triple Tiara. Several years ago NYRA decided to change the Tiara to include the Mother Goose, Coaching Club Oaks and Saratoga's Alabama Stakes and even went so far as to offer a bonus to a filly who could sweep all three races. The idea never really caught on though. The first race in the original series, the Acorn, was run on today's Belmont Stakes undercard and was won by Rags' stablemate Cotton Blossom. The Mother Goose is scheduled to be run in 3 weeks.

Kentucky Oaks champion who is taking a huge step up, though punters keep talking up her bloodline to run huge at Belmont. She is not the TC filly champion; in actuality, those races have lost plenty of lustre over the years and rarely are the top fillies aimed at that series.

no, she only ran the Kentucky Oak and that it. Until today, she will run the Belmont and try to beat the colt.
