have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are really good at school subjects compared to your class mates (your class mates are a little stupid, not you brillant).

now one of your lectureres likes to give you tests and he believes that if students know exactly how they did compared to the others, they would try to improve more their grades. so what does he do???

he gives out the tests in order of last first and going on till the first, on giving the tests to the students, he calls out their name AND their mark.

now if you were this bright student, and you studied normally but in the tests write wrong answers on purpse to lower your mark, do you think you would be cheating???? considering that the lecturer is not respecting the Data Protection Act?

Have you heard of the expression, "Two wrongs don't make a right"? The lecturer was wrong to read out grades (someone should tell him or the department chair about this, since he probably is unaware of the laws, as they have changed since he was in school). However, you are hurting yourself by deliberately writing down wrong answers on purpose. I'm not sure I would call this cheating, but you are definitely cheating yourself.

The Data Protection Act doesn't cover teachers announcing grades

As misguided as he is - I see why he is doing it. If you have a problem - go to the principal and explain the situation and the effect it has on you. You may be able to have the teacher pressured by the administration to end this "practice".

But to purposely answer incorrectly is plain stupid. Take some pride in your intelligence and hard work. Screw the idiots in your class. Once you graduate - go on to college - and enter the professional world, it will all be worth it.

You get this mindset established now - then you will have some major issues when you try to get into a good college. Then you will have problems getting and keeping a good job.

Have pride - do good work in your tests etc. Twenty years from now you will be the man in charge of others, treat them with dignity and such. More than likely - your less than intelligent classmates giving you heck for being smart will be flipping burgers, mowing lawns, etc, or perhaps - begging you for a job.

Ask him to stop. Tell him the results of his experiment were to make you very uncomfortable and tell him what you are considering doing (answering questions wrong).

if he won't quit, report him to higher authorities. Tell them this is embarrassing and harmful to all.

Your teacher is an idiot about human nature and how to motivate. Just another fool who understands his subject (I hope) but has no people skills, another important quality to be a teacher.

Tell him, and tell on him if he wont' stop.

why would you do that? HELLO! your going to screw up your average....the teachers in the wrong and the department advisor should be told what was done. simple as that....dont try to "teach him a lesson" cuz hes only going to think that you didnt study for that test, not "making a statement"

don't hurt your own grades like that. you may just be trying to make a point to him, but you are going to hurt yourself long term by doing poorly in class. (and no, i don't think it's cheating... cheating usually refers to someone doing something to improve their situation)

tell the principle... see what he/she has to say about it. it's not right for him to do that! you can get him in big trouble for that... especially if he's a new teacher!

I don't know that you are cheating, but why dumb yourself down?

Tell the principal, dean or whomever his supervisor is that you feel intimidated by this and it should stop.
