I found several questions about what day or date certain events relevant to Christianity happened. Our current western system uses weekday names taken from norse/germanic mythology and our date system is a roman adaptation of the Egyptian system. What possible relevance do Christians see in these pagan systems in regards to Christianity?

I'm not sure what you are asking. According to the apostle Paul, dates and religious holidays are symbolic only, and that they mean nothing in of themselves.

Paul said that in Romans chapter 14 that you could call any arbitrary day "holy" that you wanted to, as long as your intent was to honor God. Paul went further and said that anyone who argues over something as trivial as special dates is not really religious, but is simply trying to stir up trouble.

The short answer is that these questions that you are referring to were probably asked by trolls trying to get attention.

I like how the answerer who quoted "Romans" from the Bible. With as well as the Romans treated Christians prior to the adoption of State Christianity, I would think they would do their best to forget the Romans!

The English language is an infusion of many languages, so I don't see there being a problem with people retaining Pagan names and dates, as long as we remember these Gods and Goddesses as well as those meant to replace them.

I can't speak for all Christians, but to me, the days and dates are just that...days and dates. They have no special significance. Some however do see the day of Sunday as the day of the sabbath...Others see Saturday as the sabbath etc. I don't think it really matters. A day is a day..is a day.

Sun day - Moses and monotheism emerged at same time as Ankenaten in Egypt's rogue Pharoah

Moon day - can't have Easter without the moon phases and cycles changing the dates, very pagan

Todd's day -a European mythical deity

Woden's day - another one

Thor's day - Icelandic mythical god

Frye's day - Germanic goddess day

Saturn's day - Roman/Greek deity observation

Days and dates are just a way to remember things. It's the celebration of the thing that matters, not the actual day/date. Of course we should live everyday in celebration of God's blessings. :)

The only date that means anything is when it went from B.C. to A.D. He changed the whole world.
