Okay..heres the deal. I recently bought a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe with 50000 miles on it. I was offered an extended warranty of 3 year/36000 bumper to bumper and I took it. After looking over the paper work the warranty is going to cost $2400! I can get the contract canceled without charge because it hasn't been 25 days. Should I just take the chance and go without it? The Carfax report was clean. Isn't that a bit much for a warranty? Thank you guys for any advice

I bought a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe new. Mine has 20,100 miles on it. I was a single female when I bought the extended warranty - the whole package. It's now 4 years later, and I've never had to use it! It's a bit pricey, but if you compare it with oh, let's say, a new transmission, it's well worth it. Guess it all boils down to whether or not you know how to fix cars, or ifg you have a great mechanic .. I don't regret buying mine. Hope this helps. (at 50,000 miles, I surely hope your Santa Fe wasn't ridden hard and put up wet -- seems like a lot of miles).

Let me put it this way, I bought a used 2000 Nissan Quest with 50,000 2 1/2 years ago. We added the best extended warranty they had for $1350 and it was for 5 yrs/60,000 miles...I think you got ripped off...check online and you will certainly find a better price on extended warranty's. BTW, I now have 85,000 miles on the van and no problems...so I can't say if the warranty will be worthwhile...another 25,000 miles left on it though. Like someone said, most good cars don't start having many problems until after 100,000 miles or 7 years.

I would say save your money. They often try to exclude any claim you make anyways. If you change all the fluids and do regular maintenance you won't have any problems until 150,000 miles or more on most cars. See if their are any common trouble spots on Santa Fes. Check Hyundai forums, but I haven't heard of any major issues with this vehicle.

I just asked my hubby who was in the car business for many
years, and he said most likely you are going through a
dealership? Yes, cancel right away! Chances are you won't
keep the car for more than a couple of years anyway, right?
So you'll be better off canceling, and saving the money.
