I am originally from Brentwood and speak "estuary English". That is the accent used by the large majority of people in London and Essex. You will pick it up naturally in the course of time if you live in the area. But Aidant is right - it will take a very long time indeed.

I would not advise you to imitate the genuine Cockney accent of London's East End - it will make you sound ridiculous and real Eastenders might think you're poking fun. Just concentrate on learning as much English as you can, and the accent which is right for you will follow.

People with a cockney accent traditionally come from the East End of London, but to be honest everybody in London sounds like a cockney unless they are posh (maybe that's because I'm from the Norht though!) so you'll pick the accent up anywhere in London. But why do you want to sound like you're a Londoner if you're from Spain? Spanish accent is much nicer.

I am a native and I have never ever come across a foreigner whose English is good enough to pick up an accent. Unless you live here for literally 20 years or one of your parents is English and has an accent, you won't pick one up. It takes a looooooooong time and ideally you need to spend 24/7 with someone. Native speaking comes before accents and many people will enjoy the spanish way you say things. Sorry about that, but it's quite an impossible task.

Bit of a job to get a cockney accent now as there are virtually no cockneys left in London.David Beckam was born and brought up in the outer London suburb of Chingford. It was not always London.used to be part of Essex.I think the best accent for you would be what is called Estuary English which is spoken from the areas round Dagenham through Romford ,Grays,Tilbury,Brentwood,Stanford le Hope,Corringham,Thurrock,Basildon and Billericay,Rayleigh,Canvey Island,Benfleet,Hadleigh,Southend on sea and Shoeburyness.Could also include Chingford,Woodford.Chigwell,Epping,Harlow,Ongar,Wanstead,Ilford and mostof South Essex.(Why some of these place names have been edited I don'tknow)

A recent survey found that the best Cockney is spoken in Harlow in Essex. If you want to hear a "posh" English accent then go to either the City of London or Kensington.

Do NOT go cockney, it is such a revolting accent. Dead common and makes people sound a bit dim.
I'd say go for a generic one (like you hear many Southern newsreaders use).
Cockney accents are quite hard for non-Londoners to imitate anyway (you could end up sounding like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins).

Your authentic, true cockneys are from East London, which is where David Beckham is also from, i think.
