There may have been a line drawn in the sand between the two in Darwin's time, and I do believe that today strict darwinism remains in conflict with theism; however, science marched on after Darwin, and both the later findings from the fossil records and the credible theories in cosmology leave room for acceptance of both as well as belief in God.

(Rather oversimplified, I know, but hopefully it will do as a short answer to your question.)

Whether you believe in God or not, it is logical to give credit to god for creating humans. Just think of it. If we evolve from monkeys, why do we have different body frame, look and skin color in different continents of the world? Monkeys look the same on each continent. If you go by Adam and Eve theory, by scientific rules, they must have a parent. If that is true, they were brother and sister. Science has proved that if brother and sister mates and make a baby, that baby will have genetic defects and may have medical problems. If science is correct, why are we so much intelligent and why do we we have different look, genes and skin color? Don't kids look more like their parents? If Adam & Eve were made by god, still that is only one pair. If we are their kids, why do we look different? Why do we have different body frame and skin color? Scientifically it don't make sense to rely on evolution or Adam & Eve theory. In Veda, the oldest written religious scriptures it is written that in the begining of this universe, god created several pairs of humans on different parts of the earth from their power. This makes sense because those pairs on different parts may have been made in a way that they can survive the weather of that continent. Their body structures were made accordingly. God made animals from their power that they can survive any weather on this planet. Till science can prove it different, we must accept an answer that is logically correct. Therefore I would believe in god more than evolution.

Depending on where you live, you have the right to believe in whatever you want. Some people I know combine the two thoughts: First there were dinosaurs and whatnot, but G-d didn't think they were working out, so he destroyed them, redid the planet and came up with Adam and Eve. Robin Williams once said that we don't really exist; we are a figment of someone else's imagination, therefore we aren't real. Pick what you feel comfortable with, what ever makes you happy. We need more happy people in the world.

The Scientific Theory of Evolution has nothing to do with the belief in any gods. It merely describes, for a naturalistic perspective, our best model for the development of life on Earth.

The theory does not address any issue of god. At the very most you could say that the theory is able to explain certain things without needing to invoke a supernatural being.

No, they're not opposing options.

Some people believe in God and in evolution.

You could, in theory, not believe in God or in evolution, except that the only reason anyone has the delusion that they can make the fact of evolution go away is because it shows up the embarrassing primitive myths in their holy books.

No. It is possible to believe that evolution is a mechanism arising from rules established by a deity. But it is provably useless to do so. Evolution makes perfect sense if you understand it, and, since it is now a proven fact, you should.

You can believe Scriptures AND evolution theory:

According to Scripture NOTHING evolved but everything was created "AFTER THEIR KIND"....which is directly consistent with the fossil record.
"From the beginning of the Creation God made them male and female..."-- Jesus (Mk. 10:6)

Scripture says God SPOKE all things into existence with His Word:
" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.... For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:6-9)

The only two options availabe to Humans are Knowledge or Ignorance.

Knowledge of Ignorance does not translate into True Knowledge.

Techinally, anyone can believe in what they want.

Personally, I am not sure what I believe, but that is besides the point.

If someone wants to believe that they are renicarted, that is another that is neither god nor evolution.
