This Question is for everyone, but i'm very curious to see how Christians Answer.

In the Bible God states that he is a Jealous God, it also states that Jealousy is a Sin. Does that make God a Hypocrite?

It is good for a husband to be jealous of his wife's fidelity and honor. It is good for a wife to be jealous of her husband's fidelity and honor. That simply means that they know the need to protect such things from the polution of violation. Any spouse who is indifferent to the integrity of their partner's fidelity and honor is not fit to be a spouse. They will likely think very lightly of their marriage vows.

So with God and his good name. "Hallowed be thy name" is the first thing Jesus said his followers were to pray for. No such follower can be unconcerned at the violation of God's holiness by ignorant and/or evil people. Jesus was taking up the principle of the first two of the Ten Commandments.

God's 'jealousy' is not human (sinful) jealousy. He 'hates' with a perfect hatred and loves with a perfect love. Our hate and our love are tainted by our sin, which is why he warns us, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." And a good job too. We screw up when jealousy and vengeance are allowed to arise in our hearts. Not so with God.

God isn't hypocrite He by no potential meant to kill them in the event that they're sturdy. he isn't any devil prefer to kill sturdy human beings. yet in Noah situations He warned they weren't listening. so He erased and started new worldwide with Noah's descendents. returned He warned and killed human beings of two cities in Lot's time the message is obvious . God isn't a hypocrite yet He won't tolerate Evil why can no longer you're saying atleast as quickly as that devil or devil is a hypocrite simply by fact he killed 1000 situations extra human beings so a approaches (even sturdy human beings)

The bible has attributed these characteristics to God. So they bible makes him sound like a hypocrite.

However, I don't believe in God, so therefore he is neither a hypocrite or anything else to be reckoned with.

When he says he is a Jealous God--he means he wants to be praised for what he has given us and doesn't want us to give the praise to someone else, so he uses a word "jealous" so that we might understand...

Jealousy the sin is something different...

sorry not a christian but will add my 2 cents anyway... as this is probably what happened in the bible..

it is such a long book the writer probably got confused when writing it and forgot what he had written - as I beleive it is a work of fiction written by man for man and about man...

there is no god nor any other superior being that is out there watching us to make sure we are good....

I suppose one could argue that this passage is merely using a human term as a suggestion of god's divine prerogative.

That is, it ain't a sin when god does it. This is the warrant for all religiously motivated crimes: "This is what my imaginary friend teaches, therefore this is the right thing to do, no matter how much death and destruction may result from it."

Pure canting hypocrisy.

If you think that christians are tormenting themselves with this belief in God, why do you instigate further violence upon themselves by asking these questions?
