They couldn't call it God because that word didn't exist 5000 years ago! They may called it God in other ancient languages that do not exist now. He might became a great king so powerful that the word God got the meaning of the highest, most powerful etc person.

Here's some interesting food for thought:
Perhaps when the research results come in from the new Hadron Collider at CERN recreating the conditions that existed less than a billionth of a second after the Big Bang then the so nick-named "God's particle" or Higgs boson may be identified and we will have a fuller explanation of what gives particles their mass...it will be a giant step nearer to a confirmed scientific explanation of creation.

God descended to this planet 5000 years ago, and was named Krishna, Lord Sri Krishna who spoke the philosophy of Bhagavad-gita about 5000 years ago, we know that within 2000 years of human history no sages including Jesus Christ, prophet Mohammed, Lord Buddha, Acarya Sankara, Madhya, Ramanuja or even Lord Caitanya gave any importance to materialistic way of living. Material necessities were always subordinate to the spiritual realization. Why do we say Krishna existed 5000 years ago? He is existing always.

I guess anything is possible but have never heard of a human being being called God. The only God I know is the creator of this world, the on written about in the Bible.

The earliest written form of the Germanic word "god" comes from the 6th century Christian Codex Argenteus.

That would be really weird. That's for sure. Would be some strange parents. Like there aren't an infinite number of names to choose from?

God is not a man or He is ALL men. If you "think" he was a man, Who has "Thought" this? There are so many Gods in this world because there are so many man-made concepts of him.
