He is telling me that he loves me, but we can't be in a relationship again because of my parents. He tells me that he misses me and wants me still, and that he wants to get back together in the future. What do you think he wants?

Sounds like he is lonely and wants you because maybe you are all he knows. However, he is kind of being unrealistic about the relationship. I don't know know if you two were married, but when you marry someone, you marry into the family as well. He has to learn to accept that if he wants you back.
Or is it, that your parents don't accept him? If that's the case, ask them why they dislike your ex so much, and listen especially if your parents have been in a LONG marriage. There is a bit of wisdom there that can be tapped into.

Your ex misses u because He misses your smile. He probily is mad that your parents will not let ya'll be Boy Friend and Girl Friend. He just wants u because he loves u that's what he wants.My parents did the same thing so we had to pretend we not Boy Friend and Girl Friend im not telling u that u should. do not let your parents get in the way of your love u will regret it.

Excuse me? What are you supposed to do forget about your parents?
If he really meant that part "because of your parents" than he wouldn't say "to get back in the future".. I think most likely he knows you really care about him and he wants you to wait for him till whenever he feels that he can deal with it.
If he really loved you, he wouldn't care about your parents but also he'd make an effort to get along with them.

Girl, you answered your own question. He wants you and he wasn't ready to let you go. But since you guys can't be together because of your parents, that's a different story though.

If he really loves you he wouldn't care about your parents. My husband always tells me, if my mom or dad didn't like him he wouldn't care because he doesn't sleep with them, he sleeps with me ........ It sounds to me like he wants to date who he wants to date and have you sitting there waiting for him to give him a piece of a** when he wants it .. don't do it!

He wants what he says he wants, obviously. Perhaps you can either convince your parents to accept him or wait until you're independent to date him.
