He's using you because he know he can and get away with it. He already told you he doesn't want a relationship - isn't that the answer to your question?
Move on and find someone else instead of pining away for someone who dumped you "to be single". Don't let some dude manipulate you in this way. This kind of person will do whatever they can get away with as long as you let them. Put an end to it.

This is very natural.

We all think the option we don't have is better (the grass is always greener)

He choose to be single because he thought life would be better without you.

Now that he is single he wants the freedom of seeing who he wants but at the same time the confort of having a girlfriend when he wants. Sometime for just sex too.

Basically he is just using you to satisfy his desires both physically and emotionally.

You should shut him completely out of your life because you deserve positive people in your life you care about you and will not try and use you.

He's trying to keep you in the loop. Youre his backup just in case he can't find someone else. If he explicitly says he doesn't want a relationship, then he doesn't. He's being honest. There's no underlying message about what he said. I hope you're not sleeping with him. Just let him go so you can move on.

Your ex seems to be giving you mixed signals. It seems like he wants to just 'be friends'. If that's the case, then no - he doesn't want you back, and it is up to you to figure out if you want him as a friend. If you don't, then tell him you're not willing to go out with him. He wants to be single? Then let him be single - all by himself.

He wants to have his cake and it it too. What do you want? If you're looking for a committed relationship, then do that and stop playing games with yourself and this guy.

Don't see him. If he isn't interested in a relationship, why bother.

the only way to be sure is to stay away from him for a little bit. he just may be using you. or it may be love.

i would say that he just wants you as a friend. my ex did this. he broke up with me and we didnt talk for a while, it messed me up too. we became friends again, then as soon as i didnt want to be with him he wants to be with me again....but i dont want him, lol.
