The Mormon church cannot be the church in question. Of the church set up by Christ, he said, "the gates of Hell will never prevail over it." (Matthew 16:18)

We MUST accept Jesus at his word - he predicted that the church would never fail on Earth. And yet Mormons make this very claim; by saying that their church is a "restored" church, they suggest that Jesus lied, and that the church was permitted to fail on Earth.

Both claims cannot be true, so who's right?

Jesus is. He said, "I will be with you always, until the end of the age," (Matt 28:20) and he has kept his word.

I did some checking. Your assuming things that are not in the Scripture.

Example:

You said:

2) Must bear the name of Jesus Christ (Eph 5:23)

But the Scripture says;

Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Savior of the body

There isn't a word about you claim.

This is a false spirit, you should not believe these things if someone puts out untrue claims like this.

I believe that the Church was set in Order by Christ on Mt Hittin.in 28 AD. How could Peter call a business conference to elect the disciple to replace Judas. Who gave him the authority? The Scripture says after the Holy Ghost Came people were added to the Church daily. No where does it mention the Church was set in order that Day. Seems to me that people are saying the Holy Ghost set the Church in order.

The question that always gets me when I hear things like this asked, be it in such a forum as this or when I'm sitting in the rows at any of the various sects I attend, is why does it always have to be about who does it best? Why can't we stop looking at the differences and start looking at the similarities. People get so worked up over what in some cases is just a different interpretation of a phrase. If anything, this kind of infighting amongst the various forms of Christianity is against some of the most basic teachings of Christ. Stop trying to be better than others and start trying to love a little more.

Your list has two funnies in it. The baptism of the dead one is a weird belief, even if practiced for a while in the Corinthian church (a very immature church).

The suggested rule about churches bearing the name of Jesus Christ is definitely not biblical (note that the christians were initially called followers of the Way - see Acts). Obviously christian churches believe in Christ. But labels aren't an important matter. On this site for instance, we had a mohammedan called 'real christian'.

Actually church organisations isn't what it is about. The Church is all the genuine blood-bought believers in Christ, saved through His sacrifice. Organisation is necessary.

I think the baptism of the dead thing would perhaps indicate you are LDS/Mormon. But don't they add in to the bible with a supposed revelation of 10 lost tribes, which alledgedly went to the USA sometime before Christ? The Book of Mormon has strange beliefs which contradict the New Testament. I think catholics, orthodox, protestants, pentecostals, and all mainline denominations think you guys have strayed from the faith once entrusted to the apostles.

The Church of Jesus Christ is not an organization. It is an organism. It is led by the Spirit who indwells the believer regardless of denominational affiliation (or none). It is Catholick Universal and the Bride of Christ.
It is sanctioned by Grace Alone through Christ Alone and the members know one another through the witness of the Spirit.
It has no constitution of laws or rules. It judges in the spiritual realm and it is blessed by the love of the membership for one another and for the lost.

Wow, twisting that much scripture at one sitting! I'm impressed, I truly am!
Someone skipped around in Ephesians all over the place, but seems to have missed the whole point Paul was trying to make to the disciples in Ephesus.
And I'm pretty sure you misquoted this one entirely:
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Unless, of course, you are trying to connect the practice of the wife taking the husband's surname...but, oh, dear...back in those times, the husband didn't have a surname. He was known by his father's name, as in "Simon bar Jonah", or "Simon, son of Jonah". His wife would not be called "Racheal, son of Jonah", now would she?
Your verses about "Jesus and God" are so taken out of context, and I think you know it. You have failed to account for such famous verses as the ones found at the beginning of John...You know "The Word was with God, and the Word was God...and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us"...unless you would now like to tell us that the Word was/is yet ANOTHER "separate being".
PLEASE tell me that you really don't believe that you can be baptized for your sinful old Aunt Bertha, who was a blasphemous old biddy who smoked cigars, and entertained various "uncles"...do you really believe that YOU can make the venerable old lady a Christian, after she has gone the way of all flesh? That isn't what these verses are teaching, and again...I think you know that.
I could point out the errors in every single verse you quoted there, but I do hate those l-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-n-g answers that take up half the screen, and this one is already too long.
I would like to point out, however, that there are several clear verses that forbid adding to scripture...in other words, those golden plates are a fake, and the men who signed their names to swear that they had seen them are, each of them, false prophets, and have perpetrrated a huge fraud...and an abomination in the sight of God.
Truly, by their fruits ye shall know them...

NONE!!!!!!

You have Paul's church. You have Pope Gregory's church.

You have the church created by the 1000's of men who twisted and shaped the bible you have today.

Read the gospel of Mary Magdalene if you want to know more about Jesus. It will become very clear why the church feared the gnostic gospels. They were NOT about fear and control.
