Jetplanes are a certain type of airplane. An airplane can just mean something like a proppeller plane, jet plane, WWII plane, fighter planes, jetplane. ect. A jetplane is an airplane powered with jet engines. Jet engines are those pod looking things on each wing. this is how they work:

Fans suck in air in the front of the engine, the air get compressed, fuel is sprayed in the air igniting the air, the firey hot gases get blown out the back which pushes the plane forward.

Jet engines are used on big commercial panes, private planes, and fighter planes.

Propellers are those fan looking things you see on old planes or small planes. They work by simply a car engine inside the plane, which spins the propellers, which pushes air back.
