I like words that have Latin origin

vast=huge, big
commence = to start
ultimately =finally
signiticant = important
plausible = credible
to implore =to beg
sinister = evil, bad
grotesque = disgusting
dilemma = big problem

I hope those are hard enough
Good luck

It impresses no one (except perhaps other fools) to toss off some polysyllabic monstrosity in a conversation, especially if you are not wont to speak that way in the first place. If you really want to be literate, you've got to do it the hard way: read.

But what to read? A friend of mine had a brilliant strategy: she made up a reading list from the condensed versions of classic works in the "Book of Knowledge" encyclopedia series. "Book of Knowledge" was designed for kids, so it's a great place to start. Have a dictionary handy while reading, and don't give up if it seems slow work at the start.

I have at My disposal a veritable plethora of polysyllabic, some of which You may well care to avail Yourself.
These include such polysyllabic gems as:

Hebdomidal
Plenipotentiary
Concatenation
Diatribe
Propinquity
Abysmal
Scatological
Stochastic
Verisimilitude
Abdominal
Angst
Pulchritude
Concomitant
Holistic
Sophist
Sanguinary
Exudation
Cornucopia
Truncated

Try those to begin with. If I tell You Their meanings You will not have enhanced Your acuity, merely obfuscated, rather than ameliorated the learning process. Purely for the sake of the exercise You might consider reading the classic English literature of the 19th Century. The works of the acclaimed, and inestimable wordsmiths, such as Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy, as well as the American Edgar Allen Poe immediately spring to mind.
Happy hunting, Ashleigh.

Literacy is the ability to read and write. Having a large vocabulary is not "literacy." There are lots of vocabulary-building books and programs, word-a-day calendars, and good old dictionaries that would serve you better than this, where you are very likely to ge inaccurate information. For example, gape does not mean gasp.
