Then such children will be religious in letter and spirit and a wonderful gift to humanity.

Ask any adult who goes to church and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ who was raised in church. Do they wish their parent would have gave them a choice? They would say they are glad they didn't.
Our duty as a parent is to guide and direct our children as they are growing to what we feel is the best for them.
Faith is the same way. If we believe something you are certain about it. Religion to those who believe is more important than any other thing in this world.
Why do we send our kids to school at a young age? Why don't we let them grow up and then ask them if they'd like to have an education?
I have a cat with kittens. She is teaching her kittens how to hunt. Why? Because it is survival. It is the same with religion, it is the survival of our soul.
I am very thankful I was raised in a Christian home. I still have the choice. Adults are not stupid. We question our faith, everyone needs to. But in the end it has been answered and I found that there is no more satisfaction than knowing Jesus Christ personally. If I would of not been raised this way there is a good chance I'd have never known this peace of mind that can only be found in Jesus.

In theory this is a perfect idea, but in practice, there R so many hurdles.
To understand even one religion properly takes a full lifetime, for knowing good points of all of them , the parents & the kid will have to spend 150 years each. What about their strife for livelihood in the meanwhile?
Hardly any parents could comprehend , much less explain all the comparative merits & demerits of several religions in an objective perception in one lifetime.
After retirement ,I have been exclusively studying comparative Theology ( Doctor of Divinities ) for the last 8 years & have still not reached the first base. Yeh Kshetra Anant hai.Chhodiye mahoday, aisa vaastav mein nahi ho sakta hai.

When a child is born, depending on his previous level and standards he is put in a place with certain guidelines, If no religion is imposed he may pick what he sees in his surroundings.
but the truth is finally, depending on his capacity , a religion will select the follower. Most of the people who are dumb fold and resort to material desires are picked up by religion with no substance and which is not essentially a religion at all , and so on and so fourth.
but in a civilized world, where more and more people are self realized or atleast in the mode of goodness, will be picked by a religion which has that level of guidelines.
The basic aim is the same, to elevate from he current stage to a higher stage.

Whatever happens will be good since preaching only creates boundaries in the minds of children and freedom to exercise practise of a religion of choice is restricted.

That would give broader aspect of life. Children believe anything that they are told. Their discrimination is very limited. They can be easily misguided. If they are not teaching religion in the present way that is too narrow for this big world that would be great.
Parent should teach them the great priniciples of living which are profound in a religion. They should teach them not follow anything blindly. They should inspire them to find their own way towards divinty.
Freedom is great but independence is a greater responsiblity.

I personally would give them some information on the religions and then allow them to choose if thats the way you wanna do it . I will say that leaving it up to them to wait til there older opens the door to them not choosing one or choosing to not beleive period. I say that to me Ultimately were guides for or children . A goal for me for my children is that I give them what they need to live the best life possible and even if they choose not to take my advice... I know that what I have given them is down on the inside, and that if they ever need it they can remember what I said . With all that being said I would say just to be resourceful let them know about the different religions and then as they grow older allow them to choose. But "No" spirituality now... to me is not good!

Yes, that is what my parents did. I am now 25, I understand all religions because I want to NOT because I am forced to. My Mom asked me on my 20th birthday if I wish to choose a religion. It my freedom to choose. It is the best way for your child's mind to grow by itself instead of haveign all the answers and question severed to them.

For Christian parents to not teach their kids about JESUS is not characteristic of LOVE.
If you are Christian it should be your desire to share your faith with every one. Some people give this responsibility to Sunday School and the preacher.
To me, something is wrong if parents do not teach their children what is needed to live successfully.
