If you are a cheapass/tightwad, maybe you should not go that far from home. The far as you go the more money you have to spend. Since money is not your problem because you have a lot of it then that means you love your money. This vacation might be a nightmare or regret for you if you know how much money you have to apart with.

NY NY - Specifically Manhattan, NYC, USA. Does not cost as much as you expect if you preplan and buy tickets for everything online in advance and stay in a reasonable midtown hotel. Why not be in the middle of things anyway. Stay away from name brand hotels and rates are amazingly reasonable. There is more to see and do on this Small Island than is concentrated anywhere else on the earth. Former Mayor Rudi Giuliani stopped crime in it's tracks, cleaned up the filth and trash, and opened up a new and amazing city and current Mayor Michael Bloomburg is following this with the lowest Murder rate of huge American cities. The people have been voted friendliest of any major world city. What a concept. If anyone could find a way to be bored in this city on vacation, then they need not go anywhere in the world. This is not a vacation for kids under 12 or people without full mobility in good walking shape. Use public transportation and walk and see what life can be when it is approaching perfection. Literally everything is at your fingertips. You will never regret a trip to NYC even if you do not like a big (read huge with 9 million people) city. Come and enjoy the very very best the world can offer.

Go to Rio - stay on Ipanema beach. It is very cheap there. You dont need a car. You can walk to the beach and down to Leblon and down to Copacabana. If you want you can take a taxi (totally not necessary) and it is also very cheap. They have buses you can take also. Ipanema is a suburb of Rio. IT is like New York on the beach. This is a good time to go because it is cooler but you still can get on the beach. THis is a fun place - just have common sense about safety - leave jewelry at home. You can eat and drink cheap. You can stay at a hostel or even rent an apartment cheap. Go to rioforpartiers.com and get the book - maybe amazon has it. It is a must have - tells you everything you need to know. Email Brian at Rio CHarm and he can help get yu an apartment for your stay. You can rent by the week and it is cheap. You will need a passport and a visa but you can utilize overnight mail to get a rush going. IF you cant make it this time go next time. I met some Australians there when I went. You can backpack around or just stay in Ipanema...there is plenty to do there and the longer you stay the more you will hate to leave. Even the tours you can take there are cheap - ask Brian at Rio Charm about that too if you want to do that. The people are so happy and social and because you walk everywhere you really feel a part of the city. Hurry and check it out. (Did i mention it was cheap?)

If you don't know where you want to go or what you want to do, close your eyes and point at a destination on a map! If you have a passport, go anywhere. After you get your destination, sit down and plan out your accomodations to the last penny. This way you wont get your panties in a bunch about how much you spent. My suggestion is a cruise. You can get them all inclusive, and there's lots of nightlife or just plain relaxation. Plus, there are tons to choose from.

Check out one of the top 25 best destinations in the world right now. It answers all your questions. Hoian Vietnam is inexpensive from Aus and really cheap when you get there. Good hotel rooms for less than $10 US, great food. 40 k's of white sand beaches. The Hoian old town is a world heritage sight and is absolutely gorgeous. Hoian is famous for its tailors and its architecture. The people are wonderful the weather is hot and perfect. and best of all, you can live like royalty for less that 29 bucks a day. I live here full time and I party with people from Aus everyday. We hang out at a beach club called Zero Semile during the day and hit the clubs in the evening. Several of the clubs are open all night and really rock. Check it out. You will love it.

The best destination is the Florida Keys and Key west. It is beautiful. You can watch beautiful sunsets, go fishing, snorkeling. It is the only living reef in the Continental US. The water is just breath taking. My family and I go every year. We can't wait to get there. We have been going since 1998.
If you are in to fishing we go for dolphin fishing not the mammal but mahimahi. We also do yellow tail fishing. We snorkel. We watch the sunsets every evening and have a drink. We go to Key West. Key West is very interesting. You can people watch. They have the Duval Crawl bars every were just find the one you like. Margaritaville is there if you are a Jimmy Buffett fan. They have the Sunset Celebration where there are performers. There are musems and shops there. In the Florida Keys and Key West there is something for everyone. The Florida Keys would be your best holiday destination.
