1 Timothy 2:11-15

"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was decieved and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing - if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety" (NIV)

I'm stumped. Any suggestions? What about female ministers and women who can't have children? Finally, for that Adam and Eve thing, if you read Genesis, you will see that Adam was standing right there when Eve took the fruit. So he has no responsibility for not intervening? What's up with that?

Thanks

You must remember the source.

This was a letter written by Paul to Timothy.

Paul is generally recognized to be a big time chauvinist.

Modern revelation through living prophets today has enlightened us on much that can seem confusing, and perhaps, even contradictory in the Bible.

Firstly, the Garden of Eden was not a small garden as in the sense that we are used to them today.
These lovely 2 people were the only humans on the entire earth.
The 'garden' was, no doubt, Huge!

No doubt, further, Lucifer, being 'the subtle one' [therefore he used the serpent because that was the most "subtle" of all the beasts of the field", it states in Genesis], he therefore, would have waited until he had them alone before tempting each.

It was there, after the transgression, that God declared unto Eve that the man "shall rule over thee".
Thereafter, God, "being the same, yesterday, today and forever", always has used men as His Priesthood - as those who represent Him in the Church.
As one reads of the great Patriarchs of the Bible, one will see that there never was a woman used as a Patriarch in His Kingdom.
And they never held the 'Priesthood of God'.

Some churches have female ministers today because they have lost the way, and do not understand the order of the Priesthood that represents God.
Also, God and Christ are of male form.
As you have quoted, women will be saved through fulfilling the wonderful biological roles that God has given them.
If they are not capable of such, I'm sure the great God of Heaven and earth knows of this all too clearly and they will not miss out on any such blessings God may have in store for women of faith.

First, this Scripture is speaking of a church setting, as you may already know. Second, we must factor in the culture. Before there were chapters and verses, this was a letter to Timothy, a young pastor at Ephesus. It dealt with cultural as well as spiritual issues. The reference to the woman being deceived refers to the woman sinning first. She led the way in that sin, so God made the man the head of his wife. Before that, they were equals. Clearly, God held Adam responsible for not intervening, too. Otherwise, men would not be dying from stress on their jobs today. Female ministers, although abundant today, are not referred to in Scripture. However, if a man is called to do something, but fails to answer, leaving a void, what is the solution if a woman is willing to answer?

In that chapter Paul is describing God ordained roles for men and women in the church. Paul is not saying that a woman cannot even speak in a church setting, only that a woman cannot take the leadership role because that's what led to the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden.

Instead of it being God, then man, then woman, then the serpent it was the serpent, then woman, then man and then God.

As to the part about childbearing, that is the woman's natural primary role since only women can bear children. Paul is saying that a woman doesn't have to take a leadership role in the church in order to be saved. Instead she can play the role of being a mother to children and that if while she is doing that she continues in faith, love and holiness with propriety she will be saved. Paul gives an example of women who do not continue in these things in chapter 5.

"She who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day, but she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives. Command these things as well, so that they may be without reproach.

But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Let a widow be enrolled if she is not less than sixty years of age, having been the wife of one husband, and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work.

But refuse to enroll younger widows, for when their passions draw them away from Christ, they desire to marry and so incur condemnation for having abandoned their former faith. Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not. So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander. For some have already strayed after Satan. 1 Timothy 5:5-15

This is just a reference to a woman's station in Biblical times. And Adam was responsible for not stopping Eve and eating the fruit himself. He was cast from the garden too.

that mentioned, i might have no longer something against it. If it did initiate as an infinitesimally small, infinitely warm, infinitely dense, singularity that kicked off the finished chain of events, i might have self belief God created that singularity. i'm happy the super Bang and different much less time-honored theories attempt to describe the commencing up of the universe, in view that they properly known a commencing up factor, that's of an identical opinion with Gen one million:one million

Acts 2:16-18

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
--------------------------------
Joel 2:

27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.

32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

we all know that many parts of the bible have been misinterpreted by so many people. you should probably consider the context of the scripture. i think the scripture only highlights the position of women during that time.
