No.
Skimmed the article.
While I would agree that most religion is inconsistent with reason, I know of one that isn't. But to be fair, the reason nehind thet lack of reason in most religion, is the simple truth that most people are 'norn' into their respective religions.
Here is how it works (I have posted this so many times),
a child is born to a family that it deeply religious as a tradition. The child's parents were born into families that are deeply religious.
Yet here is the flaw; most children that are indoctrinated with their parent's religion, never question the doctrines when they grow old enough to reason for themselves. Once they themselves become adults, their religion is now a part of how they define themselves as persons. Yet, having never researched their own proclaimations of faith, and never becoming adept at defending it, they become embarrased and offended when challenged by someone of another faith.
I was once one of these people. I was raised a certain religion, but after actually reading the writings on which that faith was based, reasoned that the two were not in agreement. So I left that faith.
By studying the writings, and finding the theme of them, reasoning skills, for me and many others have been sharpened.
What I, and am sure you, will agree on, is the simple fact that most people on this planet are not consistent with reason.
These subjects, religion, nationalism, racism, even belief in current scientific theories, are all subject to their follower's abandonment of reason.
Yes, that is right, many people abandon objective rational based on the pulications of science. Every time I have looked at the evolution websites, I have seen the sugjestive words used, "maybe"," has been accepted by many scientists", "probably", "could have", and I reason that many of the evolution community are purposely not dogmatic.
Yet, where that belief turns to something inconsistent with reason, we get statements like;
“If you meet somebody who claims not to believe in evolution, that person is ignorant, stupid or insane.”,
“Most enlightened persons now accept as a fact that everything in the cosmos—from heavenly bodies to human beings—has developed and continues to develop through evolutionary processes"

No not all. True religion of the Bible from the Creator is entirely reasonable. The FALSE religions of the world, many claiming to be Christian, are totally free of reason.
Look at all creation. The planets, the universe is a very model of reason and order. Look at the water cycle of earth. It creates a natural filter for fresh water, even though man is trying to ruin it. Look at the alignment of the earth. 23.5% off axis ensures seasonal climate changes and the moon pulling tides ensureing weather patterns.
All these things point to a God of reason and order. Rather than corrosive, it lubricates and feeds the mind with great ideas and goals.
False religion is what you are used to and it is completely devoid of reason. 1+1+1=1??? When you die, depending on the preacher's mood, you are a) in the grave b) in purgatory c) if you are a child, that section of purgatory has been closed or d) in heaven. REASONABLE? NOT A CHANCE!
By contrast, the Bible tells us in Eccles. 9:6-7,10 the dead are not able to feel anything or do anything. Other Bible verses compare death to sleep. No fire, no torment, no bliss. They can have a resurrection by God. This is from one who made us in the first place so He would reasonably know how.

i've got examine the item. i don't believe the author, incredibly his/her definition of religion. And the component approximately universities coaching us to settle for info purely. not genuine, the two. whilst a scientist plots a graph based on the experimental documents, what then? Interpretation, particular. the rest? EXTRAPOLATION. Or the translation and extrapolation of a revenues curve. Are the extrapolations info or based on info? Neither. each is basically an informed wager. that's faith, religious or in any different case.

That is a very closed-minded and prejudiced thing to say. To say that religion goes against reason is to say that the maker of the world, the savior of human souls, should not be believed in and followed. What power have you to rise and speak against the Almighty? He could remove you from Earth far easier than you could prevent people from believing in Him. I don't know why you see it as corrosive. Perhaps some religions are- but shouldn't that be a red flag?

Not necessarily. It is actually very uplifting to the human mind to consider having something still more noble than the mind, i.e., the soul. Then, when you get old and Alzheimer's starts to creep up on you, you will not find it necessary to put a bullet through your head.
Sorry about how blunt that sounds, but My Steve did just that because he believed he was losing his intellectual capacity, which is what had defined him for so long.
But religious belief does not imply monotheism. There are many, many more religions, including those that are completely consistent with intelligence. Many understand that their symbols and metaphors are the human interface on what is actually far more abstract and esoteric.

I read your statement that you dont want to live in the world where it (religion) is respected.
My answer is : FINE!
Wherever you are, there is always somepeople who respect religion, in schools, markets, shopping malls, airplanes, vessels, anywhere, even so in this RELIGION and culture catagory. YOU ARE INCONSISTENT with your own word, to post in this one.
Is your statements means anywhere in the world???
I suggest, get out of this entire world, or , stay/live with yourself or with your parents/ friends/relative who has/ve the same idea with you.
And, maybe dont ever come to this section, because this is one of the world where many of us respecting religion.
YOU ARE INCONSISTENT.
People who have religion will disagree with you. So dont mix with them, you will be frustrated. I am one of them. I am very happy with my religion; I am very happy to think that I have God. I am a muslim, I learn a lot from Qur'an, and Hadeeth and I find that having a religion is encouraging, empowering as well as soothing.
So, if you think you will be happy without a religion, just be . You can not harm any body unless you act to harm anyway. We all have freedom to make choice, choose whatever suit you.
But if you dont want to be in a world where religion is respected, dont enter this post. YOU ARE INCONSISTENT.

so it is, so what ? is this the only inconsistency you noticed in this world ? what about people killing others, abusing children, stealing from others ? a bit corrosive isn't it ?
are you outraged by this as much as you are by religious beliefs ? how about 50,000+ children dying of hunger every single day ? are you angry about that ?

Which particular "religious" belief do you have in mind? What seems to be unreasonable to me is how easy all religious beliefs/faiths are dismissed out of hand simply because not all of them can be correct or real. It must come down to one faith. Which one shall it be? Then we can talk turkey about that "religions" validity and see how you answer then.

Once you have had an undeniable experience of God (it happens all the time my friend) it is eminently reasonable to then try to the best of your ability to worship that God. Etymologically the word religion simply means "voluntary submission to God". You can try all you want to explain to someone whom God has revealed Himself to that they are corroding their mind, but you would have a greater chance of breaking a diamond with your teeth than convincing them to turn their back on Him. By the way, I was converted to Christ back in '86 and since then have completed a computer science degree (summa *** laude) and landed a job at one of the best programming companies in the country. My mind is sharper than ever.

It depends on what you consider religious... not all things are nicely bundled into a can of generic quantification.
I find that anything that encourages the imagination in a positive way, leading to creative measures and inspiring behavior is beneficial to the human mind... so long as it is fluid and not stagnant.
