am going califonia in 2 months and will be traveling alone, but some of my freind and family have told me that i will be dent bak from the air port if i havent got a biametric pasport, is that true? the pasport i have now still has 8 years on it and am only going to usa for 2 mouths holiday.. can u help?

My understanding of the situation is that you can travel if you have a machine-readable passport without requiring any sort of visa. If your passport was issued when you say it was, then it will be of that type. Older documents may not be of suitable variety, so their holders will need the extra.
Check with the American Embassy in London, or a Consulate nearer to you.

As long as you have a burgundy coloured UK passport and you are a British national you are OK but double check on the passport agency website as it has a link with the most up to date info and the American embassy website. It is very confusing but the biometric restrictions come in in another couple of years

I've just renewed my passport, and as such, now have biometric. as far as I am aware, you can still use your old passport. The only difference being; you will have to fill out visa forms that you don't need to do with biometric.

Your best bet is to contact the US embassy, or take a look at their website, you should find concrete answers on there.

Sorry my dear chap but I do believe that you will indeed be needing a Biometric P/p.To be sure check with your Travel Agent or the US Embassy.
