First off I want to say my heart goes out to you & I am so sorry .I just let my girl Desire move on to Rainbows Bridge this past Thursday. I had to make the decisson to have her euthanized to end her suffering. I too wish I could have her back, but it broke my heart everyday to see her struggeling to breath & walk. She did put up a good fight. Just know in your heart that once again she is full of vigor, and life and playing with all the other dogs that have moved on. Desire was not my first dog I lost and believe me when I tell you that no matter how many we lose the pain is not any less with the next one. It is alright to grieve and you will out of the love you have for Suzie. Remember all the good times & memories you have of her & cherish them. The only thing that will lessen your pain is time & time alone, nothing else. Here is a beautiful poem I think you should read ( It will have you in tears but it is beautiful) I first read this poem at a cancer vet office when I was trying to save my boy's (Snoop)life and it has hung on my refridgerator for almost four years now. http://rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm Again, I am sooo sorry!!! Below are a couple more sites you may want to visit.

Sorry to hear about your Suzie. I have lost Buttons (age 16), Sparky (7), Fozzy (14), and Samson (2). Losing a doggie is never easy. Buttons has been gone from me for more than 20 years and I still cry about it if I think about him being gone. So what I do is when I start to tear up, I think about the good times we had together - the long walks, him meeting me every day when I got off the school bus, sitting on the porch talking to him for hours at a time, etc.

After I lost Buttons, I went about a year without a dog. Same thing after I lost Sparky. After those two though, I have realized it's much a much easier transition if I have two dogs at the same time since they rarely die of old age at the same time, I will always have one to get me through after one passes away.

If you don't plan to replace Suzie immediately but you miss being around a dog, you might consider volunteering at the local humane society for a while. You might even meet a 4-legged friend there that you decide to keep. Best wishes. Jim

I have also felt the loss of a best friend and I miss him still. although you cannot replace Suzie you can get a new dog to help take the sting out ......puppies make people smile and bringing another dog into your home honors the memory of Suzie.......however you will probably outlive this one as well. This is life I wish there were dogs that lived to be 60 or 70 years old so they could be lifelong friends.

I am really really sorry. I know how this must feel. But you musn't blame yourself. I'm sure Suzie wouldn't have wanted you to feel like this. It is normal to feel sad, but here are some ideas to help you get through this difficult time.

1.) Have a good old cry- it'll help, honest!
2.) Get a plaque with Suzie's name in it, or commemorate a special part of the garden to her.
3.) Take up a new sport or hobby, such as horseriding or painting.
4.) Adopt a new dog. No-one will ever replace Suzie, but there are so many dogs out there that you are bound to find one you like!

Three of my dogs died. Every time it was as if a member of the family passed away.

Sounds cruel, but the only way to overcome the grief is to stop thinking about it. Put away everything that reminds you of your dog. And... go to the disco, or to a park of attractions, or anywhere you can amuse yourself. It DOES NOT mean to betray the memory. You are to live.

And buy a puppy. Only not now!!! In several months.

Sorry for your loss. Time will help ease the pain. It is just like losing a child, you will grieve because you have lost someone that you loved very much. It is normal to be sad and depressed. Talk to people about her and put up some nice photos and whatever else will help you to remember and honour her. You will feel better over time.

so sorry to hear about your loss, I lost my Sophie a year ago, I had her for 16 years. I cried and cried for ages and even now I can shed a few tears but it is getting easier. Time is a healer they say and it's true. They say get another dog is the best remedy it can work. It did for me years ago when I lost Pip, I got Sophie. Now I'm too old to get another dog but you go for it I'm sure if you are young enough it will work for you. I wish you all the best.
