Royal Canin is fine, but Eukanuba feline is also high quality. Chicken is #1 ingredient. Available at Pet Smart.

I have three cats of my own, and I foster cats for two rescue organizations. I prefer Royal Canin to all other brands. I can always find a solution to their problems with the variety of specific cat foods. Also, their stools seem to be far less smelly. I do no not think they are over priced as you need to feed less since the quality is so good. All of the cats I have ever had thrived on Royal Canin.

Royal Canin dog and cat foods are high quality complete foods. You are able to get just the right one to suit your individual animal. All take care of the basics - teeth, digestion, coat, etc.
It has not been recalled.
It is available from Vets and large pet stores (well here in Australia anyway)
When you look at the recommended feeding quantity, the cost of feeding is actually very reasonable as you do not have to suppliment with anything else.
EDIT
If you look closely at the recalled items, it is a (USA) subsidary and DOG food, except one.

Royal Canin is my 2nd favourite brand, 2nd only to Hills. It is a high quality food, and their prescription diets are great too.
Chicken meal isn't actually a sign of low quality food however.

Eagle pack, Wellness, Canidae. Natural Balance, Evolve are your Best foods and don't worry about chicken meal it's meat with the water sucked out, what you need to look for is if there is corn in the ingredients, if so it must not be in the top 3 and not more than once...as in corn, then ground corn, then corn gluten meal. You don't want to see the words by products anywhere,
Also watch out for BHA and BHT and Ethyoxiquin, all of which cause cancer.
