When you (Americans) talk with Chinese/ Taiwanese, have you noticed any non-verbal signals (such as some body gestures, eye contact, touching, etc.) which make you feel uncomfortable, wired or rude?

Yes , almost daily, staring, pointing, laughing, making fun of me in Chinese, although often I can understand what they're saying. Asking me why I don't wash my clothes better. Saying I'm like a "monkey". Long drawn out strains of "heelllloooo" in a mocking sarcastic manner. Laughing at me while eating, like I'm a joke.

I don't need to go on. And I won't say ANYTHING about the Taiwanese, i do not believe they act like this.

It's really pretty sad. So much for "polite".

Of course. You ever try to special order something at a Chinese take out? You know darn well they are cussing you out in Cantonese or Mandarin in the back while they scour the trash bin of the local grocer for thrown out produce & meats. What really upsets me though is immigrant business owners getting a 5 year tax break from the government.

I've had Chinese talk to me impolitely. I responded by eating it.

No, but I was, however, told that I sure was FAT and OLD when I met this particulary rude Chinese at work a few months ago....

I had a negative encounter with only one Asian, a total stranger who insulted me for no reason. Looking back on it, I should have decked him. All my other encounters with Asians have been positive.

I find in Australia most of them are only nice to you when they want your money as a customer.

A few of them are very nice people but most of my experiences have been negative.
