Is the passing of a catheter (a rubber or plastic tube) into the urinary bladder through the urethra so that urine can flow freely into a receptacle placed outside. May be needed in case of BPH or other enlargements of prostate resulting in blockage of urethra in men.

Is when a tube is inserted into the urethra, so that urine can be emptied out of the bladder, it can be done for many reasons, and some people have a catheter fitted after surgery if the surgery is such that they cannot get out of bed to go to the toilet afterwards. When the catheter is removed it can leave behind a burning when you pee. Some people have to catheterise themselves in order to empty their bladders as in those with spinal injuries. What do you want to know about catheters?
