Im a junior in high school and I wear eyeliner. No other make up just that. I'm not gay, and I'm not "emo" in the stereotypical sense. Girls at my school absolutely love it, and they joke about me being 'metro' but its all in good fun.
Now the guys are a totally different story. Out of my clique of friends, which is quite big, only two other guys wear eyeliner. One has rockstar mentality, the other is emo in every sense of the word. I just like the way it looks on me. But a lot of the guys at my school, even some on my waterpolo team, almost hate me for my eyeliner. I've been called every homosexual related insult there is, and last week I got into a fight with someone over it.
A fight, with an almost complete stranger, because I wear eyeliner. Am I the only one that thinks that's RIDICULOUS

I am old enough to be you mother, and I would tell you to be sure you use a good brand because some brands have toxic chemicals in them.

I am thrilled to hear you are not gay. Do the girls seem to like it? As for someone claiming self esteem issues, I think if there are not very many guys wearing eyeliner at your age and you are willing to be teased over it, then I would say you have a strong enough self esteem. If you are wearing eyeliner and avoiding alcohol (assuming you are in the USA and with the drinking laws), avoiding drugs (which will ruin your appearance, and no amount of makeup can cover that up), avoiding sex (ok, I am not your mother, so practice safe sex), and keeping your grades up, don't worry wear the eyeliner. I would even supply you with it if I were your mother to make sure you were using a good one. There is certainly much worse you could be doing.

The homosexual stuf, there are so many true homosexuals and they are almost accepted and favored, so there must be another reason they are teasing you. Now a fight, who threw the first punch? Yes, it is a stupid thing to be fighting over, but if you were defending yourself from physical beating, then I hope you got the best of him (oops, there is that motherly instinct coming out again), but if he didn't and you reacted to his taunting, then you outta be ashamed of yourself. Yes, a fight over eyeliner is ridiculous. Those who are taunting you about being a homosexual because you wear eyeliner don't know anything because a homosexual would be afraid of drowning and would want to play waterpolo.

For a final note, make sure you use a waterproof eyeliner when you play. No one like it to run.

Enjoy life you only get one chance at it. Make it fun and have a good one. Enjoy every minute of it.

I don't see anything wrong with it, but I'm not exactly part of normal straightlaced society either. In the business I'm in (body piercer & owner of a band management agency), I'm around guys day in and day out that wear eyeliner on a daily basis (guys that are 18 to 35 mind you). I'm guessing you probably live in a small hick town that doesn't know how to accept someone for being who they are and doesn't believe that anyone should be allowed to be different from anyone else.

When I was in high school, I was one of 4 goth's in the whole little redneck school. Caught hell for it, every day "witch" "satanist" etc...but you know what, after a little while I realized that everyone who was judging me by what I wore, my make up, etc, was nothing but shallow minded people who had nothing better to do than judge other people because of their own lack of creativity and self-expression. Don't let it bother you, do what feels right and enjoy what makes you happy.

Eyeliner and makeup are just the couple of simple things that seperate girls from guys. They just do. Some girls think of this as a turn-off. Well, it's whatever floats your boat. Lol.

No, i think it's very ridiculous too. But why fight the low life? Just walk away. They are not worth it. By the way, i think it is very great and you have a strong personality and are self directed enough to be who you are despite what others think. Congratulations!

If you are in a stage play or if you are playing in a rock band [while actually playing but not everyday], it is okay.

It is not right to wear it every day. There is strong pressure to conform, and you are not conforming. When one does not conform, one suffers the consequences of nonconformity.

Who am I to say it is ridiculous? You may have to resign yourself to the possibilities of fights with strangers. Advice: take some martial arts training this summer.
