Also, would I be able to fly with an infective tooth on a plane. I am concerend i may not be able to get back home until the infecton clears.

Most of the time the reason a person gets a root canal is because the tooth is infected. It's hard to know for sure by your question, but it almost sounds like you are saying that the infection came afterward.

In any case, you will need to make sure that you take all of your antibiotics which could be anywhere from 1 - 2 weeks. Before preparing the tooth for a cap the Dr. will want to check your tooth to make sure there is no infection and that it is healing properly. The Dr. will then be able to prepare your tooth for a cap. You also need to know that you won't get your cap on that day, the impressions that the Dr. takes have to go off to a lab (usually) and it will take about 2 weeks before it can be put on permanently.

If you are on antibiotics and in the healing phase, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to fly.

Ask the doctor (dentist) to put you on anti-biotics and get the infection cleared.

you need to be on antibiotics....you should have been on the from the beginng so there would have been no chance of infection....
