I'd hug them in front of the crowd and go "ooooh" but not say yes or no, and then later chew them out for doing that to me. That way the guy saves face...but gets confused as well. Either way he's going to get hurt, so I'd rather hurt him without everyone else seeing it than publicly humiliate the guy.

Wow, now that is a question. I would hope something like that is done with knowledge that the other person would say a resounding yes. But it seems like such a private ceremony to make it a drama. Somehow, the expected yes would have to tempered with this is such a shock & let's talk privately, through a smile and maybe through clenched teeth & a smile.

If my answer is no I guess I would get over it but if I was the one doing the asking I would take 2 weeks off from my job and watch movies and go into a junk food coma then eventually I would come out of that to. OUCh! I would just hate to be in that situation.

Be glad I made the right decision....if my initial instinct feels apprehensive then saying no was the right choice - more time might be required to make it better or it's move along time....

you don't leave any other choice; you are answering your own question with "and your answer is no"

so where is the question that we can answer ?
