That they follow the true message of Jesus.
Jesus founded the Nazarenes also known as the gnostics.
http://one-faith-of-god.org/new_testament/apocrypha/nazarenes/nazarenes_0010.htm
Paul of Tarsus, not Jesus founded christianity.
http://one-faith-of-god.org/new_testament/apocrypha/founders_christianity/founders_christianity_0010.htm
So when a person claims to be a Nazarene or a gnostic, they are respecting Jesus and following his example, but when a person praises Paul of Tarsus and claims to be christian, the defile the name of Jesus.

I'm sorry you've been hurt, but my personal experience has been that EVERYTHING I say is offensive if I talk about Jesus. It doesn't matter how kind I am or how much love I express, I am very often treated with contempt. I'm not saying that all non-believers do this, but a lot do. If someone who claims to be a Christian is saying these things to you and is displaying the attitude you have described, I question whether they are indeed true Christians. Many non-believers dismiss this, but you know it's in the bible, Jesus said there would be false Christians. He may have worded it differently, but there's no mistaking what He was talking about. Please understand, I'm not saying YOU used to be a false Christian, I'm just making an assessment of the behavior you found offensive and those who were behaving in this manner.
When I revealed that I used to be an atheist, an angry atheist ranted "you weren't a REAL atheist!!!" Sorry, but yes I was a real atheist and I know it. You know and God knows what has been and what is in your heart.
I will be honest with you and I in no way want to offend you, but you know I've got to pray for you to come back to Jesus. I just have to. God bless you.

Long ago I was your average christian, went to church (sometimes late, sometimes slept in) and all the rest. There were many things a "Christian" could say that would offend me however now things are different.
I have been shown what I must do to Glorify God before my time is up in this world and that is to be a missionary (which is what i am), now whatever anyone says doesnt bother me because I must complete my mission.
Dont worry about what people think, we are all just people searching for the truth.
God Bless you my friend.

Every time that people I care about are confrontational with me, I've been angry and accused them of not caring or not knowing what they're talking about. However, when I got over my snit and started to truly think about what they were saying, I realized 2 things: 1) What they were saying was probably right and, 2) They truly were concerned about me and were trying to keep me from making as big mistake.
My pastor tells the story of his older brother and him. His brother was the one to lead him to the Lord, when they were younger. Later in life, the brother fell into hard times and heavy sin, to the point of being in and out of jail.
His mother always prayed for him to turn back to Jesus. One night, the Lord made it clear that she needed to change her prayer to, "Lord, please save my child and make him one of Yours." The Lord showed her that he was never saved. She had ignored the most obvious sign of his salvation, or lack thereof, his life.
After she started praying for his salvation, the Lord started to convict his spirit. Eventually, he asked his brother, the pastor, to visit him. The pastor had the joy of leading his older brother to the Lord, the same older brother that had led him to salvation, years earlier.
You can be offended at what your friends have said, but I believe you must ask yourself one question, and answer it honestly: "Are they really being mean/self-righteous, or are they truly concerned out of love and they see something that Satan won't let me see and I won't make the effort to look at?"
To answer your question, the most offensive thing a Christian can ever say is "It's OK. You're alright. You'll get to Heaven, anyway. There's nothing wrong." The Operation Save America group says it best: "The Truth is Hate to Those Who Hate the Truth!"

Not Christian but I just listened video from musical Notre Dame de Paris. Beautiful song, by the way. Catholic priest likens object of his lust,a beautiful woman, to Jesus and says that he wants to "enter her like I enter from Church´s door.". That´s probably quite sacrilegious and offensive to Catholics and other Christians, no?.

Being told that, as a Roman Catholic, I'm not Christian, end of story; it's like a door slams in their heads somewhere as soon as they hear R.C. The worst of these don't even try to ascertain what I personally believe about salvation, but essentially write me off irretrievably lost -- they walk away without so much as an "I'll pray for you", let alone haul out their "four spiritual laws" booklet and attempt to save my soul. God knows my heart, but the most narrow minds among my brethren apparently think they do, too.

Before I read your details, my first thought was that the most offensive thing a Christian can say is, "I'm Right and You're Wrong" in regards to religion and faith. Then I realized that anything judgmental out of the mouth of a Christian would be the most offensive thing he or she could say. Not only would it be offensive to the person being spoken to, but to Christ himself.
I am sorry you have experienced judgment at the hands of other Christians. It is my belief that this is the most rampant and accepted form of hypocrisy in our society. Please try to forgive them and allow only goodness into your heart.

To many, the most offensive thing that a Christian can say is that Jesus is the only way to God. It is not that a Christian intends or wants to be offensive, but we believe that it is true and is necessary for others to have eternal life.

Well, having been told by several of my family members that I'm going straight to hell is pretty hurt-full. But really I think the fact that Xians think that atheism is just an excuse for having no morals is pretty offensive. I had a college room-mate tell me that before she knew I was an atheist, and then right after she said that I told her I was one and she was speechless, because she genuinely liked me and felt that I was a good person, and I guess I just destroyed all the indoctrinated bigotry she had for atheists. That was a good day for me.

Pastor Billy says: I'll assume you are referring to Protestant Christians and the most offensive thing they can say to me is
"Catholics aren't Christians"
When in all truth Protestantism has usurped the title of Christian from Catholics.

That I don't share their christian beleifs BECAUSE I'M IGNORANT.
Also an example of arrogant hypocrisy. I was raised catholic, went to catholic school, both parents worked at the rectory, church and school. I was fed christian teachings, preachings, and explainations for breakfast lunch and dinner.
The more I learned about it, the less sense it made. the more rationalizations they gave in response to my questions, the more irrational they appeared.
Who is really guilty of ignorance here?
