You have just asked a question that focuses on the very basis of Christianity. The fact that God is a "good Judge" dictates that all of us are deserving of punishment. A crime has been committed, and justice must be paid. This is why Hell does exist. If it didnt, then God would be unjust and unfair. So when people are forgiven by God and become Christians, does that mean the justice has been thwarted? Absolutely not!!! The reason Jesus came to earth was to serve the punishment that I, you, and everyone deserves. It is like your parents paying a parking ticket that you got. Justice has been served yet you are saved. Of course our crimes are more serious than a parking ticket, but you get the point. Refer to Romans 6:6-21

Here's what I don't get. Casting a soul into Hell for an eternity of torment would seem to be an act of hate, wouldn't it? So how does God get away with it, then telling us to turn the other cheek?

I'm a Universalist, so I think the answer is "He doesn't cast souls into Hell for an eternity of torment," but I know the vast majority of christians don't agree with me.

Anyways, I don't get it.
