"As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change."
you may call it Spirit or Soul or life ...as you may like, but we have to understand that we are different from our body...
We are sons of God and hence our actual nature is eternal, and not temporary like this Body.
