No I do not think it is fair to say that. You can say whatever you want, and others can as well, this is a free country, but I will always believe in Christ and what he sacrificed for me and you on that cross. I will not follow the crowd or what seems logical, I will follow my heart and the words that are spoken upon it. I have searched through many religions and they all left me void, left me wanting more, I have found Christ and he fills my heart he makes me whole he is why I am here!!

So...I will try to just answer your question.
In my opinion, Christianity in particular and religion as a whole are not in their twilight of service to mankind.

Throughout recorded history, humankind has tried to understand the meaning of life and what our role in it should be. I believe religions are created to fill that need. It is so universal that it begs the question: Is there such a thing as a collective unconscious mind? It is fascinating to me that so many cultures over thousands of years have similar versions of a creation story. In some versions, the mother of humankind is revered, while in others (such as Christianity) she is portrayed as evil. My point is that the key players in the stories are so much alike, regarless of the origin of the story.

I thoroughly enjoyed Joseph Campbell's book The Power of Myth. I think his way of discussing the role of myth in our search for meaning was refreshing and informative without being prejudiced by a particular set of religious beliefs. I think he makes some valid points about the ways that we search for meaning and unity.

By the way, I am not an atheist. I do believe in a higher intelligence and that life as we know it is not just a random occurrence. But, I can also respect your right to have different opinions than the ones that I have. I do not practice any type of organized religion because I have a difficult time believing that there is one "right" way of thinking, or only one pathway to self realization, and ultimately to God.

Thanks for asking an interesting question.

Unfortunately there is so much that is called "Christianity" that is not true faith in the living God. I would hope that kind of Christianity is in its twilight and going extinct.

BUT, Jesus said that there will be weeds growing among the good plants and both will be there until harvest time. At harvest the good and the fake will be sorted out.

Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. "The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ "‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. "The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’"‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’"

Don't let the weeds distract you from finding the good seed and plant.

Your sarcasm aside, Christianity is no myth. You, like so many people, have come here to "ask questions" about things when you have already decided that you know the answer. Even better, anyone who differs from your view will be ridiculed because they MUST be less intelligent than you are.

The cherry on top...you will probably accuse Christians of being close minded while engaging in the bashing of the aforementioned Christians.

No... just presumptuous opinions.
(ie. - it's a myth and it's in twilight of service to mankind.)

Not fair at all, silly clown.

Christianity will be around for longer than you can count. And I'm not even a Christian, yet I can see it's an unfair premise.

Okay, you know what? It's okay.
Did someone hurt you in your childhood?
Were you shut down for not believing in God when at a catholic school, so now you decide to hate the faith online safely behind your computer screen?
