stainless steel jewelry is cosidered to be made of nickel or a related alloy. i know this because i have the same problem. my suggestion is to switch to a chain that is made of 14K gold or surgical steel and applying clear nail topcoat to the back of the pendant.

You might be allergic to the metal Try changing the pendant to a better quality chain from a good jewelry store and for the pendant pain the back side with clear nail polish. Also I assume you meant sterling silver and not stainless steel.

it may not be true stainless steel as it sounds like a nickel allergy and sadly the only was to deal with this is not wear it and you have to be careful in the future however i would suggest going to a dermatologist to confirm it and bring the necklace along.

Stainless steel is unlike carbon steel. Carbon steel is made of iron and carbon were as stainless is made mostly of nickel. Nickel causes allergic reaction in alot of people. That may be the cause of the rashes and breakouts.

Stainless steel still has small amounts of nickel in it. Most people aren't sensitive enough to react to that, but some are.

Go to a doc and have them test you for it.

HELLO,
WAS THIS A PURE STAINLESS STEEL JELWERY OR ONE WITH AN ALLOY WHICH MAY CONTAIN NICKEL?
THIS IS A COMMN ALLERGEN IN SOME PEOPLE.
A CONSULT WITH AN ALLERGIST WOULD BE THE WAY TO GO.

Usually people are allergic to the nickel in metal jewelry. Maybe there is a trace amount of the metal in yours. You may want to consult with a allergist to see if there is something else you can do.
