how come Jesus turned water into wine? How come we were told to drink wine in remembrance of the blood which he shed for our sins? I am Mormon and I don't understand why they replaced the wine with water when it's in the bible that they drank wine at the last supper.

Its replaced because the Bible was before the Word of Wisdom. Word of Wisdom is for the latter-days, not Bible times.

Jesus can take anything and make it good.
Alcohol is bad because of not the drink itself, but the people who drink it and the choices they make. Drunk driving, rapes, violence, liver problems, ect.
If everyone was responsible then alcohol would not be such a bad thing, if you are referring to the word of wisdom, lets say it is true, then God knows alcohol can lead to bad choices, so he banned it all together, not just those who are responsible.
I am an ex-mormon, I still do not drink. I think it is okay if someone has a few drinks acts responsible, or has a glass of wine, personally I do not like the taste of alcohol, and I think the world would be a better place if it did not exist.
For those who drinkt o have a good time, I think it is sad that they can't be themselves to have a good time.

PS I dont see anything wrong with drinking coffee, some people will say but you don't know where the coffee came form, if the people are being paid well and treated well, supposedly Starbucks makes sure that it's coffee comes from a good place. Now shopping at Wal-mart should be a sin, they treat their workers in China and Bangladesh so horrible! Sorry I am off topic, I just watched this Wal-mart movie...

Probably for those who have never had wine in their system, besides it is bitter for some who have a sweet tooth. Some parents would never put alcohol into the bottles of their childdren, and would not want to expose their kids to alcohol at a young age either.
Back in Jesus day, they had no water system like we did, were the water got cleaned up and recycled, thats what we pay for, to get all the toliet paper and the no ! and No. 2 taken out of the water and then it has chemicals put in it and it is recycled.
The water had germs in it and it was better to drink wine for the stomach, then water all the time, with germs in it, mosty people probably bathed in t he drinking water to.
What I don't understand is the mormons also replace the wine with water instead of grape juice. Thsi totally even disgraces what jesus did on the cross.

Yes Jesus turned water into wine and they drank wine at the last supper. Jews are allowed to drink wine. Mormons are not. Wine is not bad in and of itself. Your mormon leaders don't want you to get into the alcohol habit. During Jesus' day wine was the safest thing to drink since the water was not very clean. The fermentation process killed bacteria in the water. The wine did have alcohol in it and was the beverage of choice for everyone in those days. Even Paul told Timothy to have a little wine for his stomach. I don't want to tell you to go against your church but study your scriptures and find the truth. I do not advocate drinking tequila shooters because Jesus drank wine. That is not reasonable.

The answer my mom gave: It was grape juice.
But I don't believe that.

Jesus was Jewish. He was raised in the Jewish custom. Which allowed for the (moderate) consumption of wine. Notice, however, that the Jews have their own dietary laws.

The Word of Wisdom, which we observe, is the LDS version of the dietary laws. When you tell someone you're LDS, what do they say? "Oh, you don't drink coffee or alcohol", right? I think that this is one way for the World to recognize us--it's certainly the most obvious way because it's a physical way.

Now having said that, science is proving that red wine, when drunk in small amounts (like 1-3 glasses a week) is good for the body, promoting better heart health. However, the Bretheren are still firm that ANY alcohol is not for our bodies, nor for our bellies. So I don't believe that it's because wine is so "bad", but because of where it may lead (alcoholism and related problems) and to be a "peculiar people" that we don't consume it.

Now...we don't use it for the Sacrament because:
1. Water is cheaper and more plentiful.
2. Wine is more easily poisoned or corrupted than water.
3. We don't drink alcohol anymore.

I hope that this makes sense. It's midnight here and I should get off and go to sleep.

They never replaced wine with water. Jesus did change water into wine at the wedding party. Alcohol isn't bad, if you drink it in moderation. At communion, wine becomes Jesus's blood. I don't understand why Mormonism prohibits its members from drinking alcohol. Is not evil, nor will it taint your body.

Yeah, you'll have to understand that when they drank wine back then it was not fermented as it was today. You'll have to read the Old Testament where the Lord sent Isiah the prophet to tell people judgement would fall upon them for making strong drinks. So, we know the wine Jesus made was not strong. As for the replacing of wine with water that is man's own concept and is not from God.

Tolerance to conspicuous alcohol consumption varies with time and technology. In all classic works of antiquity, and up through the 18th century, you constantly find references to people drinking alcohol all the time. The reason for this is that until modern sanitation, anytime people gathered together in any numbers, the water supply was not safe. The main source of hydration was alcohol. It had the same disenfecant effect of boiling water, but let's face it, it's not boiled water.

In modern times, with plentiful drinking water being available, people tend to not like being around habitual drinking, and discourage it in many ways.

The Mormon attitude towards sacrament beverages is partly a result of the fact that their faith is young and has existed almost entirely in the age of safe drinking water. They do not have a tradition of worship with wine to break from.

I think the water in the area likely wasn't good to drink so people had to drink wine, a lot of things in the bible are taken out of context. The bible should never be taken literally, one should always keep in mind the era in which it was written.

Once, when Joseph Smith was going to buy some wine for Sacrament, God told him not to buy from his enemies, but to make it themselves. Then He went on to say how i doesn't matter what you use for the sacrament, as long as you remember WHY you do it.

No one needs to drink wine anymore. Whatever benefits you get from it, you can also get from non-alcoholic sources. For instance, some would have you tink that, to get a certain anti-oxident tat you need, you need to drink at least one glass of dark red wine every day. But, since this anti-oxident comes from grapes, you can use GRAPE JUICE and get the same benefits.
