Jews don't believe that Jesus is the Messiah because they just think that he was just a man. They didn't recognize him because it was God's plan to have them veiled so they wouldn't see who he was. The ones that don't know him are still waiting for him to come. In His time, there were many who did recognize him and those were his followers like the Talmidim (Apostles), and many others as well, a whole multitude of believers.
Even now, many Jews who accept Jesus as their Messiah are coming to know Him. They are called Messianic Jews. There are I think seven Messianic congregations in Israel who believe that Yeshua is their Messiah. Many of them are getting yelled at or bashed by Orthodox Jews because they accept Yeshua. As for me, I am one who knows who my Messiah is and that is Yeshua. I am Sephardic Jew, ancestry from Spain.
Please, please keep praying for the Jewish people who don't know their Messiah. Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem....Psalms 122:6

It's actually rather easy: he failed to fulfill a single messianic prophecy.
First of all, we have to know what the "Jewish prophecies" are in regards to "messianic prophecies"
These are:
1. Descendant of David - (Jeremiah 23:5) (there are more regarding this one), note, must also be a descendant of Solomon (1 Chronicles 22:9), but can not be a descendant of Jeconiah (Jeremiah 22:30 This is established only through the biological father (for line/tribe) Numbers 36 (Tribal lineage), Genesis 49:10, 1 Kings, 11:4, 1 Chronicles 17:11-19 (Kingship lineage), Exodus 28:4, 29:9-30, 30:30, and 40:15 (Priesthood lineage)
2. Preceded by Elijah - Malachi 3:23-24
3. World Peace - Isaiah 2:4, Exekiel 39:9
4. Universal Knowledge of G-d - Isaiah 11:9, Jeremiah 31:33, Zechariah 8:23, 14:9, 14:16
5. Building of the Third Temple - Ezekiel 37:26-28 (See also Ezekiel 40-48, Isaiah 33:20)
6. Death Will Cease - Isaiah 25:8
7. Resurrection of the Dead - Isaiah 26:19, Daniel 12:2, Ezekiel 37:12-13
8. Ingathering of Israel - Isaiah 43:5-6 (See also Jeremiah 19:15, 23:3, Isaiah 11:12, Zechariah 10:6, Ezekiel 37:21-22)
9. The Nations Will Help the Jews Materially - Isaiah 60:5, 60:10-12, 61:6
10. Eternal Joy and Gladness Will Characterize the jewihs Nation - Isaiah 51:11
11. The Jews Will Be Sought For Spiritual Guidance - Zechariah 8:23
12. All Weapons Of War Will Be Destroyed - Ezekiel 39:9
13. The Enemy Dead Will Be Buried - Ezekiel 39:12
14. The Egyptian River Will Run Dry - Isaiah 11:15
15. Trees Will Yield New Fruit Monthly in Israel - Ezekiel 47:12
16. Each Tribe of Israel Will Receive It's Inheritance - Ezekiel 47:13-14
17. All Warfare Will Cease - Isaiah 2:4
Also, we know that the messiah will be an actual king, ruling in Israel, and sitting on the actual throne in Jerusalem. And that there will be no dispute as to whether or not this Jewish male is the messiah or not. (Jeremiah 23:5-6, and Isaiah 42:1-4)
To quote a friend, "When we carefully consider that none of this has occurred, we can be assured that although many thousands of individuals have claimed to be the messiah throughout the centuries, Jesus included, none of them is. Moreover, when we ponder whether Jesus is the messiah, it is obvious that the very opposite occurred immediately after the Christian movement began; that is; During the first century the Romans slaughtered many thousands of Jews, the Jewish people were exiled from their land, the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed, the knowledge of Torah and its observance decreaed throughout the Roman Empire. Clearly, there is no relationship between what the Hebrew Scriptures say about the messiah and what Christianity teaches about Jesus."
To sum this all up, Jesus didn't do the job, (nor was he qualified for the job in the first place), he wasn't the one.

The Jews were living under Roman rule when Jesus began His ministries. They hated the Romans for their brutal treatment as well as them occupying what was believed to be the promised land. They believed that Jesus would be their earthly Messiah, One that would build His Kingdom and defeat the Roman oppressor. But, Jesus didn't present himself as a 'earthly' or 'worldly' king, but as a servant; washing feet, keeping quiet at His trials, and teaching to love one's enemy instead of hating him. Even as Jesus was dying He still asked God to forgive them for their transgression. The Jews placed all their hopes on a Messiah that would bring them God's power to defeat the Romans. They expected someone earthly to come into Jerusalem exalted, and wearing rich expensive clothes and riding in an expensive military style chariot, ready, willing and able to put those Romans in their place. But, instead they got a carpenter's son riding in on a donkey's colt asking them to forgive those that transgressed against them and love one another. They also didn't expect their Messiah to go against the religious leaders of the day as Jesus did in the Temple. He just wasn't what they had placed all their hopes on. As scripture accounts, that Jesus wasn't recognized by His own people as their Savior. Unfortunately, had Jesus demonstrated a worldlier attitude instead of the complete opposite, the Jews would have readily accepted Him.
God Bless You

The Jews expected a political and military leader. Jesus was a different Messiah from what they were expecting.

JEWS DO NOT ACCEPT JESUS AS THE MESSIAH BECAUSE:
1) Jesus did not fulfill the messianic prophecies.
2) Jesus did not embody the personal qualifications of the Messiah.
3) Biblical verses "referring" to Jesus are mistranslations.
4) Jewish belief is based on national revelation.

Prophecies have never been fully understood until after they were fulfiled.
I understand the big stumbling block for Jews is that "the lion and the lamb will lie down together." This means world peace and they haven't seen world peace.
So dear Christian, maybe we should all work harder for world peace.

Part of it is, we were specifically told certain things would occur, and they did not in the time of Jesus. Also, we were told (Lo Bashamiam Hee, in Hebrew) that nothing could be changed completely, even by God, in our religion. So when Jesus tried to change things definitively, that voided him.
