mental, with physical pain you can keep cool and get your mind off of it and it wont hurt as bad, theres medicine for it too, but mental pain is worse because it could cause you to harm somone else or yourself, and you constanly think about it and it will never really go away if it is bad enough, its not just a scar, its a memory...

I think mental pain can be worse han physical, but they both kinda interact or trigger one another, mental pain can lead to physical pain, and physical pain can lead to mental pain, if they get really bad of course. But most of the time physical pain goes away. So I would say mental pain sucks the most.

As a person with Spina Bifida and Bipolar Disorder, I have vast experience with both. For me, physical pain is easier to deal with. Physical pain is by its very finite. You can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Mental pain seems infinite at the time. It is difficult to see past the pain and the constant thoughts to the other side. If no end is in site, there is really no coping mechanism

As a person who's had experience with both I can say that emotional pain is worse it never goes away. I've had several operations and I have had arthritis since I was 19 and I've always been able to find something to relieve the pain, I haven't been able to do that for the emotional pain. Even taking anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication nothing has taken the pain away totally although it has lessened.

I guess it depends on how you define pain. In terms of something hurting, like, "Ouch, that hurts!" then physical pain is worse. If you define pain as depression and feelings of unworthiness, then mental. I've had both and neither is fun. I guess physical pain is worse. With mental pain, you can at least go to sleep.

I think mental pain is worse. Imagine the pain from losing a child. That pain in your heart is worse than anything imaginable. I can't think of anything that could hurt worse. And, that is a pain that no medicine or operation can heal. It will forever hurt...

Well since mental pain can manifest into physical pain as well, I'd have to say physical pain is worse.

Personally, I think mental pain hurts more. I'd rather have a broken arm than a broken heart, having had both! Mental anguish can actually manifest itself physically in the body if it's really bad, like psychosomatic disorders. (Think ulcers, flu symptoms, etc)
