i rank 100 out of 586 sophmores at my high school. for some reason this makes me very mad. i thought i would be 50 or less. considering i have 6 A's and 1 B. is 100/586 good?? would this get me into my choice of a college? and to figure out what percentage i am in, would i divide 100/586?

Really you need to look at your GPA, not your class rank. Colleges don't really look at that anyway unless your first or second or something higher like that. If your GPA is above 3.0 most state colleges will accept you, otherwise you might want to look at a community college. If you are a 3.5 or higher I would suggest looking at private schools and get as many scholarships as you can because it won't be cheap.

Depends on where you live and where your college is. Here in Texas, we have the top 10% rule. If you are top 10% or higher, you can go to any state college (in Texas) you choose. Depending on your SAT scores and the college you choose you may be fine or not. Contact the college you wish to attend. They can give you very specific goals to strive for. It could be that you just come from a very competeitve high school. That may be taken into consideration.

It's not bad. You're in the top 20%. Top 10% would be about the top 59 people. You're a sophomore, though so you still have your sophomore year plus your junior and senior year to improve. Keep studying!
